The Everyday Runner 01.02.2021

Time to evaluate! I like to plan. Plan for a goal, plan a vacation, plan on when to run and when to hit the gym. However, all my plans don’t always work and I have to go to plan B,C, and D. It’s just something I have learned over the past 25+ yrs as a firefighter. I have also learned that you have to change to find what works for you in the world of fitness. The past 2 weeks for myself have been extremely busy, as I help a friend open a new theater in a nearby town. So I ra...n and went to the gym when I could squeeze it in. Hopefully, now I can get back onto a normalized schedule. Yes, life is going to throw curve balls at you, but we need to constantly find a way to be committed to our goals and adjust accordingly. I say the above because I know people out there have set fitness goals in the new year and now that we are halfway through the first month, it may not have gone as planned. Now is the time to get those goals realigned and moving forward towards them. Life is never easy, you just need to find a way to adapt and overcome. So let’s pick up, readjust, and get moving forward towards our goals. In the end it will be well worth it.

We are now at the midpoint week of the first full week of the New Year and the decade, what actions have you taken toward your goals? For me personally, the busyness of the holidays hasn’t really slowed down. However, I’m working hard to get back into a routine to meet my goals. Do I succeed on a daily basis? Nope, definitely not. However, I always find that 30-60 min to either run or get to the gym help get my day started off right or provide some much needed stress relief ...at the end of the day. The important point is to stay focused and keep pressing on. At some point it will become easier. It has been said that it takes 28 days to create a new habit or change a pattern. Let’s keep pushing through to achieve our goals. It may be tough, but nothing in life is rarely ever easy. Focus on the little goals to get to the big goals. As the Rock, Dwayne Johnson always says, Hard work, dedication, equals success. So let’s get it today! See more

It’s already 4 days into the new year and It has been a complete struggle to keep up a consistent schedule. It seems the holiday season hasn’t even ended for me. It probably won’t for the next couple weeks. However, I challenge everyone of you to find time, make time for yourself and give you 30-60 minutes of enjoyment. I have found that even when I am super busy, that I can re-energize myself and be able to maintain better focus when I make myself take time for me. Al...so, find an accountability partner or group. I highly recommend Strava and start joining challenges and other running friends on their as well. I’ve had my friends keep posting runs, making me feel guilty, which caused me to go out and get a run in. The best part was, I still accomplished everything that needed to get done that day. If you don’t know of friends on Strava, I’m on their @cmorgan9709. Be challenged, and keep this new year moving in the forward direction. It can be extremely tough at first, but it will get easier. A NEW YEAR, A NEW DECADE, A NEW YOU? HAPPY NEW YEAR! May this be the best one yet. As we begin to look into the Roarin’ 20’s as some are calling it, I ask this question: What do you want to accomplish? What are your personal goals? What are you going to do to get there? All too often I find that it is very easy to stay in a rut and we become creatures of habits and the more we become entrenched in our ways the harder it is to move forward. It’s time to break out and push th...rough the change to let 2020 become the best decade ever. My goals for 2020 and this page are simple, 1. Publish at least a minimum of 2-3x’s a week 2. Engage in conversations to help promote healthier, smarter running 3. Help give people the confidence they need to be able to accomplish their goals. The body is always willing and can be trained, but the mind is powerful and can make us believe it’s not possible. It’s an entire package and sometimes it’s all about the strategy, hard work, and dedication. The first is just as important as the last two. My personal goals to begin this decade are, 1. Run a sub 4-hour marathon. This has alluded me all too much. Was close but got injured 2 months before the race. 2. Start back up again to add speed over distance to make it the full marathon distance 3. Continue my work towards my personal trainer certification. Already a certified running coach, would like to add the personal trainer certification to my resume 4. Start up Chris Morgan Fitness as a way to offer my knowledge to everyday runners and athletes and to help train them to get to their next level. Please don’t be alarmed by me starting up my own personal fitness business. This page is not going to become a constant join, join, join. I want to keep this page as is in the format that it has been going. I realize a coach or trainer is not for everyone and I still want to help people get to their next level and providing information like I have been. Sometimes, it’s good to figure out things on your own, as you find what works for you and is not part of a cookie cutter plan. I still want this page to be a resource and provide encouragement to those who don’t want a coach, but still want to get to their next level. I have spent 25+ years helping people through being a firefighter/paramedic and its one of the greatest joys there is for me. Now being retired I find that piece missing, which is why I decided to start this page and go down the route of coaching and training. This page is all about passing it on as I have had some great friends help me get to where I am today and they did it for nothing but friendship. That is the purpose of this page and why it is not going to change. It’s all about paying it forward! So to come full circle to the beginning of this post, I would love to hear your personal goals as you enter the roarin’ 20’s. Please post in the comments. Happy New Year!!!!!
