The Loisaida, Inc. Center 28.11.2020

Since the age of 6, lifetime #Loisaida resident Maria Bido acquired a taste for traditional Puerto Rican dishes from her grandmother. The authentic cuisine included a combination of the flavors of Sofrito and Adobo coupled with an extremely intricate variety of plates which makes for a perfect holiday meal. Sadly, some of these recipes and the history they represent are becoming an ‘endangered cultural ethnic art’ as the traditions and customs are not being transferred to the... younger generations. We have an unwavering commitment to preserve the beauty and culture of our heritage, including the culinary arts. In 2020, more than ever, we must take measures to preserve and celebrate the uniquely diverse culture that defines New York City and the Lower East Side. It is imperative we go above and beyond to represent, uphold, and preserve the beautiful diversity and cultures that define New York City. #LoisaidaTV #LaCocinaDeLoisaida #TeachingKitchen #Food #Heritage #PuertoRico #LowerEastSide #CulinaryArts Loisaida Inc. BALLAD of CYCLIC CHANGE Sculptures by: Kathy Creutzburg Mirabai Kwan Yin... Jake Elkin Aya Hirota Music by: Jake Elkin Amy Garapic Ric Becker An outdoor, socially-distanced concert in La Plaza Cultural Community Garden located in Manhattan's Lower East Side neighborhood of Loisaida. "Ballad of Cyclic Change" is a multimedia, collaborative art project with interactive sculptures and live music. Inspired by the biogeochemical cycles and how they mirror cycles in human lives, these sound sculptures are made from upcycled everyday materials. By connecting human stories of transition to nature’s cycles we encourage people to feel connected to their planet. Made possible by LMCC and New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) Streamed Live on Sunday, December 6, 2020 via #LoisaidaTV
