Five months ago, I opened this practice to encourage those in my community to plan for and protect their futures, and to advise and assist them in those endeavors. The time has flown by, but that only reminds me how fleeting life can be if we put off important decisions. In that time, we have lost national and international figures, from Nancy Reagan to Justice Scalia, and from David Bowie to Alan Rickman. Those losses remind us of our own mortality, and of the importance... of having all our affairs in order. Even if you are young and have no health issues, establishing an estate plan can help protect your children and family in the event tragedy befalls you. As I celebrate the conclusion of my third week in solo practice, as my own anniversary of sorts, I'm reminded and comforted by all the events occurring around me in my friends' lives. There are their own anniversaries, birthdays, weddings, birth announcements, and even business formation. Change is all around us, and happens every day. I encourage everyone to make sure that those changes are accompanied by the best decisions and planning to ensure that those you love will always feel that love, that what you do will have a lasting effect. Plan now for later. Later will always come, and it's just around the corner.
