The annual Trixie Strauss Christmas Bird Count, hosted by the Audubon Center in Sharon, Conn., will be held this year on Sunday, Dec. 20, from 12:01 a.m. to midnight. It’s the tenth anniversary of the Hudson, N.Y., Basilica Farm & Flea Market, and while the market is usually held in person at Hudson’s cavernous Basilica, this year it will be held online as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Scientist Emma Rosy of the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies was recently appointed to serve on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Science Advisory Board. A two-car crash occurred on Route 22 in Amenia on Thursday morning, Oct. 8, leading to the death of a 2-year-old girl.
