#tbt - 2015 Damn, Pirates Weekend was in 2015! Welcome to the first installment of Riverboat Bar Live Music Throwback Thursday. We’re all missing live music, so let’s take a trip down memory lane, shall we? In honor of what was supposed to be the start of Pirates week this Friday, let’s start with this 3 night banger from Pirates Weekend 2015. Also, in a cruel twist of 2020 fate, the dates line up perfectly for this summer, so don’t be fooled - these shows already happen...ed five years ago! Three packed shows with three of our favorite bands and still one of the best weekends of live music ever in Alex Bay. This was the summer that our great friend Eric Munley from the Waterhole in Saranac Lake and, of course, The Blind Owl Band, was gracious enough to book a bunch of shows for us to get us going full time with original music. We’re forever grateful for your help and thanks for believing in us! Aqueous kicked it off on Thursday. This was the third of six consecutive years we were lucky enough to be able to host AQ for a show at The Riverboat. They were the first touring band to come through town back in 2013 and they showed us that it would be possible to do this in our small market. This time, they were on their way to Peach Fest for the weekend and made a pitstop in Alex Bay to throw down a 2 set rager that went way past curfew and ended with 32 Things by Moe. - at about 2:45 in the morning if I remember correctly. Also, pretty sure this was Nogle’s second to last show with the band. Lucid played their one and only show in Abay at The Riverboat on Friday. We were damn lucky to get one in before they became way less active and stopped touring. This was pretty soon after Dirt came out, and every time I hear that album I think of this show. This was also the first time we met our homie Joshua West, who was playing drums for Lucid at the time, and later went on to join Annie in the Water the following summer. Closing it out on Saturday was the annual Pirates Weekend hometown throw down from Annie in the Water. The band that started it all for us at The Riverboat, and also quite literally built the stage everyone now plays on here. We all love them dearly and can’t wait until they’re back tearing it up next summer at The Riverboat. Thanks for reading! Does anybody remember having the stamina to hit all 3 of these? Remember shows? We’re all missing live music right now. It’s been super hard to walk by our empty stage every day and we miss the moments we all share together through music. The feeling, vibe and togetherness of a live show. Shared emotion and human connection are the heart and soul of all live music. We’re DEFINITELY missing that right now. We’ve been compiling an archive of our old show posters on the Riverboat website. We have so many great memories from all of these sh...ows and we’ll forever be thankful to be a part of this music community. Music is supposed to be uplifting and we don’t want to contribute to something that ultimately is doing more harm than good.
