Waterloo Community Center December Newsletter New Outdoor Ice Rink! We are happy to announce the addition of an outdoor ice rink this winter. It will be located on the field behind the Rec (old Little League field) adjacent to the paved access road. Please keep in mind that it will be a natural rink that is dependent on weather conditions for ice quality. To begin making ice, we need an extended forecast of below 32 degree daily high temperatures with 3-5 days to establish a ...solid base. Your patience is appreciated. Once ice is established, the quality and safety of the ice is determined by weather factors, patron use/abuse and/or maintenance issues. OPEN signs will be posted when the ice rink is deemed safe and usable. We will also put updates on our website and the Village of Waterloo Facebook page. Hours: (subject to change) Weekdays: 1:30pm Dusk Saturdays/Sundays & school vacations: Noon Dusk *Ice rink will be supervised and will only be open during specified times. Ice Rink Rules: Open to residents of Waterloo, Fayette, and Junius. No hockey sticks, balls, pucks, or other misc. objects. No food or drinks on the ice. No smoking, vaping, alcohol, or offensive language. No pets. The use of the ice rink is at your own risk. By using this ice rink, participants are acknowledging that there are inherent risks involved in the activity of ice skating and are voluntarily assuming those risks. The following health and safety protocols are required: Wearing of face coverings that cover the mouth and the nose. 6 feet social distancing at all times (except for family members). Health screening form to be filled before use. Temperature checks. Adult Update: We continue to offer the following indoor adult recreation activities: Adult Pickleball: Wednesdays, 10am-12pm. The Village is collaborating with Cornell University to develop an architectural design concept for 38 Washington Street (former Moore’s Furniture). The Village and Cornell University students are soliciting feedback from Village residents to determine the mix of uses for the site. Everyone’s perspectives will be beneficial to produce a well-rounded concept. Please take 5-10 minutes to click the link below and fill out the survey!
