Good Evening, Faerie Friends. I've been trying to crack a web developer problem for over 3 years and it was really frustrating to me. Nothing I tried was working. Tonight I tried again and IT WORKED!!!!! This means that I will be able to add more content in a much easier manner - and hopefully more often. I apologize for not making follow-ups to many past project posts - I vow to do better in the future. (I'll also do my best to make posts of the finished product from those p...osts - you all deserve closure on those processes. Your support along the way has meant tons to me and I haven't been keeping up my end of the bargain.) Yayyyy for learning new things and solving complex puzzles! Good Morning, Faerie Friends. I've been busy here at the Woodland Workshop and at the "pays the bills" job. The photos I've shared with you of the lilac colored project have more photos and that one is finished. There is also a little sleepy sister to it that has been completed. They were both commissions for someone and she has not received them yet. As is my rule, I don't post finished project photos until the intended recipient has them because I don't want to unintentiona...lly spoil any surprise. We missed each other the other morning, so she won't receive them until Sunday evening. These ones are so stinkin' cute and the first time I have used cotton yarn for amigurumi. For anyone who doesn't know, amis are traditionally made in cotton yarn, but it is not a requirement and most people - including me - use whatever yarn they have on hand as long as the colors are right for their given project. My yarn was special ordered from Turkey for these two. Then there was a long hunt for the perfect way to add the "sparkle/bling" to them in the right places. As most of you know, the majority of our items are custom one-offs and finished photos often don't even make it to the page. Good morning, Faerie Friends. Just wanted to pop in and give you a glimpse into my daily life. This is what I look like after working 44 hours in 4 nights at my "pays the bills" job. I've just arrived back at the Woodland Workshop and the Head Elf in Charge is waiting for me. Now it's time to spend the next 3 days at the "feeds my heart and soul" passion. I'm trying to find the mistake I made in a current commission. If I am lucky, it won't be too far back. Once I sort that o...ut (and after a quick trip to the yarn store an hour away for a necessary supply), I'll hopefully be able to finish it up this weekend and deliver it. Then it is back to my very large project. Can't wait to share the finished work with you. And maybe the customer will share a photo as well. ;) Hope you've all had a great week. When your normal work schedule has you wide awake all night, what do you do? With the Head Elf In Charge and Willow the cat sleeping soundly beside me, I am watching crochet videos on YouTube and working with black yarn. (As most fiber artists will tell you, working with black yarn is a challenge in perfect daylight, and they shy away from it. I personally enjoy it.) (I apologize for the brightness of the flash - working in a subdued light condition so as not to disturb the s...leepies next to me.) Started this commission on the 9th and have mostly worked on it during my short lunches -almost done. Meeting with the customer today to double check the sizing. If all goes well, she will receive it a week ahead of schedule. Loved working with this yarn and also the challenge of new stitches. The yarn is sooo soft and works up wonderfully. I've said it before and it is worth repeating - thank you to all of my customers who have given me the opportunity to spread my wings and learn new things. You all make me better.
