When conversing with infants, it is important to use speech that is expressive and varied in intonation, because it extends the child's attention and interest. In addition, adult speech that is syntactically simpler is easier for the infant to understand. Repeating words or phrases increases an infant's understanding.

We love group projects and decorating our center with our students' hard work.

When verbal mapping is appropriately provided during times when the child is alert, it can enhance the infant's receptive language by drawing attention to the adult’s speech and the ongoing events or actions. Using simple sentences and repeating key words also facilitate verbal mapping.

Today we presented our family trees to our class! A family tree is a chart representing family relations in a tree structure form! This activity is a great way to get kids to connect with family members and to learn about their family background. ... They really felt like they were a part of something much bigger. If you’re looking for a fun indoor DIY activity, this one is it! See more
The process of communication loops highlights the importance of a sender and a receiver in the midst of conversation. This begins when we start to talk and respond to our infants. Engaging infants in conversation establishes patterns and as they grow, more complex conversation helps children to develop neural networks in the brain that contribute to language competencies. Communication loops enable successful communication in the future.
It’s the most OOK-T time of the year!
