Happiness is not something out there as the media overtly suggests, but rather it’s inside. As my yoga teacher Liz Schulman reminded me the other day in yoga teacher training, sometimes the most spiritual path we can take is the journey within because it helps us see that we came into this life with everything we will ever need. ... http://www.huffingtonpost.com//the-most-spiritual-path-i_b
There’s one thing in common with those I interviewed: meditation was their secret source of personal empowerment. Here’s a meditation I created that combines the research of the American psychologist Abraham Maslow with the ancient practice of visualizing chakra centers to help manifest your dream career. ... http://www.huffingtonpost.com//manifest-your-dream-caree_b See more
Here's a bit from my latest article. Hope you like it :) The howler monkeys screamed outside and the humid air hugged my skin like a warm blanket. I sat down and faced a woman who I barely knew and placed my hand on her chest to feel her heartbeat. She did the same and we stared deeply into each other’s eyes for five intense minutes. Sweat began to pour down my face, stinging my eyes and, as my heartbeat grew in intensity, I thought about my wife back home. This is definitely... not appropriate, I thought to myself, as intense guilt began to flood my mind. http://www.collective-evolution.com//i-stared-into-this-w/
( Audio Available) I'd like to share with you a gratitude meditation I've developed. If you've never meditated before, remember to be patient with yourself and open. This meditation combines the research of Abraham Maslow with the ancient practice of visualizing chakra centers. We will begin by slowing down the breath and then saying a series of affirmations that align with our energy chakra centers.... http://www.huffingtonpost.com//try-this-gratitude-medita_b
Even as far back as the days of street hockey and weight-lifting in my friend Jeff's basement, I've always found it interesting how we define gender and how our definitions of gender are so easily influenced by the media we consume. In this piece, I finally put some thoughts into prose and share my evolution as a man on Collective Evolution. http://www.collective-evolution.com//can-we-retire-the-st/
When I bump into former students, I hope for them to tell me that they are living out their passion, but so often I hear the opposite. They are doing "x" to get a paycheck and thinking of going back to school for what they are passionate about. I know I may be stirring up an argument here and that's not my intent, but I strongly believe that we are living in one of the most beautiful times to be alive. It's a time where since you can learn anything with a click of a button, y...ou can be anything you want to be. (Latest Article) Like Brian, many people leave high school to begin a career or get a degree in something that is safe. I don't blame them at all. Growing up in a blue collar family, I know the feeling of depending on the next paycheck. It's a terrible feeling. So I get safe. But playing it safe rarely works out. So, what holds people back from following their bliss and living inspired? A bit of ancient wisdom may have the answer. http://www.huffingtonpost.com//branching-beyond-playing-_b
