Happy Spring in NY! I am happy to announce that effective next week, I will be offering massage appointments on alternating Fridays. This is with an eye towards having appointments open every Friday in the fall (after our Renaissance Festival season concludes). This change should be live on my online booking by the end of today. I am also excited to announce that I am adding hot stone massage to my modalities: ... An excellent way to add therapeutic heat to your massage session, hot stone massage incorporates heated basalt stones (common to the finger lakes) to warm muscles and soft tissue throughout the session allowing for deeper release of tension. The therapist will use the stones to massage the body to your pressure preference along with other massage techniques integrated seamlessly during the session to address any areas of concern. The result is a luxurious treatment with lasting therapeutic impact. Due to its full body warming nature, hot stone massage is not indicated for those who are pregnant, have high (uncontrolled) blood pressure, a history of clotting issues, heat sensitivities, or some autoimmune conditions. Check with your therapist before the session with any concerns you may have. ***Please note that due to set up time, hot stone massage will not be available for the first appointment of the day, and cannot be added to the session less than 2 hours before your scheduled appointment.*** I am absolutely chuffed by your continued support and am looking forward to continuing your wellness journey with you! As always, you can text/call 315.542.7431 or hit my book now button above to schedule your next You-Time. <3

While we are excited for the slow awakening that the new CDC and NY masking guidelines for vaccinated persons are a harbinger of, at this time NY has not changed the guidelines for individual massage practice. I am happily anticipating seeing everyone’s smiles again, but currently I will still be cautious and require everyone who is medically able to wear a mask for the duration of their massage appointment. (This is also partly because I value your safety so highly and partly because I have people in my home who are not currently able to be vaccinated). I appreciate your continued support and your assistance in keeping us all healthy! As always feel free to reach out with any questions or to book your next appointment! 315.542.7431

Bone is living tissue and remodels based on stressors - including blunt trauma or chronic muscle tension. This is a cool look at the skeleton!

As the days get longer and I no longer leave the office in full dark, I am excited for the changes this strange past year has brought. Thank you to everyone for your patience with our new safety protocols and for your continued enthusiasm for and commitment to your massage and health journeys. The new office is amazing and seeing everyone find their relaxation in it has been so delightful. I know my schedule has started to fill up, so I am contemplating adding Friday evenings to make it a little easier to get in to see me. Look for that change, if it happens, in late April to mid-May. At this time we still require masking for all clients and practitioners, but are hopeful that as vaccination data increases we will see loosening of protocols. Peace, Jennifer

TL:DR - Due to the pandemic, We’ve been without touch too long and may be experiencing negative effects, massage can help! After nearly a year in various states of isolation, you may be feeling the added strain of reduced touch. One of my LMT friend’s once said, massage offers touch without an agenda and that can be so beneficial. All of the safety protocols we follow are so that we can offer a low-stress opportunity to get that need met. As we face a these (hopefully) las...t few months keeping everyone safe by staying apart, you can begin to reacquaint yourself to positive, reassuring touch with a massage appointment. Re-acclimating to touch may also help ease any anxiety you may be feeling about reopening efforts in your community. (This is of course in addition to the immune-boost, pain relief, and other known benefits of massage). The need for touch exists below the horizon of consciousness. Before birth, when the amniotic fluid in the womb swirls around us and the foetal nervous system can distinguish our own body from our mother’s, our entire concept of self is rooted in touch. The human body has built all its models based on touch received from caregivers, says Dr Katerina Fotopoulou, a professor of psychodynamic neuroscience at University College London. We’re utterly reliant on the caregiver to satisfy the body’s core needs. Little can be done without touch. https://www.theguardian.com//lost-touch-how-a-year-without

We are keeping a close eye on the latest updates to NYS guidelines regarding the increase in COVID-19 cases, and our attempts to stop the spread. At this time all massage therapy services are allowed to proceed and medically necessary massage has been newly designated as essential (which will allow it to continue through increased prevention measures). Please, please avoid unnecessary outings, wear your masks when you’re outside your home, and be safe! I continue to waive my fees for all pandemic related cancellations. As always, you can text/call 315.542.7431 for an appointment, to cancel/reschedule, or to ask any questions you may have!

Some teaser photos of our new space! We are all moved in and ready to see you in our expanded, tranquil offices. We are seeing data about how many people are experiencing touch deprivation during our long time part from others. Touch deprivation can be a huge contributor to mental and physical ailments. We are, after all, social beings with a need for touch. Massage has been shown to provide many benefits, including reducing the downfalls of time out of touch with others. In ...our new space (with brand new floors and air filters), we are maintaining all of our extra cleaning and infection-prevention protocols, so that you can expect a relaxing, therapeutic, and safe experience for your massage. I still have a few appointments open this week, come be amongst the first to try out the new digs! 325.542.7431 (call/text)
