Three Village Dads Foundation

Today the Three Village Dads Foundation along with Team Scher - Signature Premier Properties presented a check for $7500 to the Stony Brook Children's Hospital’s Child Life Program. $5000 donated from the 3VDF and the remaining $2500 from Zach Scher and his team. This time last year the 3VDF held a huge toy drive for the Children’s Hospital, but this year with Covid precautions in place, the hospital has asked that no toys be donated this year. However we could never forget about our amazing friends with the Child Life program. So it is an honor to still be able to contribute in some meaningful way. Thank you to all of our amazing donors that have made days like today possible. And a special thanks to Zach and his team for being a part of this great cause.

Today the 3VDF presented a check for $3000 to the Three Village Community Trust to aide their refurbishment of the Hawkins Homestead on Christian Ave in Stony Brook. It is believed that this house, which was originally constructed in 1660 is the oldest house in Three Village. The Community Trust owns and maintains many historical properties all over the community and the 3VDF is honored to be able to help with preserving these sites. Assemblyman Steve Englebright attended today’s check presentation as the Assemblyman has been paramount in ensuring these properties remain historical landmarks and not redeveloped into modern structures. Thank you to everyone who has donated to the 3VDF which makes efforts like today’s, possible.

The 3VDF’s Gift Card Food Drive was completed today with the final delivery of Stop & Shop gift cards. In total we raised $4000 and with that we purchased 200 $20 gift cards from Stop & Shop on 25a in Setauket. On Saturday we delivered $800 in gift cards to the St James Roman Catholic Church food pantry on 25a. Today the remaining $3200 was spread out to each of the school food pantries in the 3V District. (5 Elementary Schools, 2 Junior Highs, 1 High School) A special thanks to Jeff Hendel of Hendel Wealth Management Group, for personally donating $1000. Its because of amazing donors like Jeff that we are able to accomplish what we do. Thank you to everyone who contributed and/or helped out in some way!

Last year the Three Village Dads held their first ever large scale food drive. 3VD members and other community donors helped us deliver an enormous amount of food, non-perishables, and other grocery items to the local school food pantries as well as the St Philip & St James Roman Catholic Church in Setauket. However a year later the world is a different place and we are forced to adapt in order to continue our efforts. Instead of collecting grocery items at multiple location...s, dividing it all up, and delivering it to the food pantries, we are holding a Gift Card Drive. We are asking for monetary donations of any amount so that we can purchase local grocery store gift cards to donate to the pantries in lieu of actual food items. The pantries will then distribute the gift cards to those seeking their assistance. The 3VDF will be donating the first $1000 towards this effort to get it started. However we only have a few days to accomplish this since the schools are only in session until Tuesday next week, so any and all help is greatly appreciated! Thank you. Tomorrow the Three Village Dads Foundation will be delivering all of the collected candy for our Treats for Troops event. Thank you to everyone who donated and a huge thank you to those that volunteered to collect. We received a ton of leftover Halloween candy to be able to send. We appreciate Hudson Valley Blue Star Mothers for the idea to take part in this initiative. Thank you Medwellspa and Yoga Academy for being a primary collection point. ... And a special thank you to Soldiers' Angels for sending the donated candy overseas to our brave men and women.

Working with Hudson Valley Blue Star Mothers and Soldiers' Angels, the 3VDF will be collecting unwanted leftover Halloween candy. The initiative Treats for Troops aims to send candy care packages to our service men and women currently deployed overseas.
