Way back in the 1980’s, when we were at Nature’s Way Cafe’, we had a very successful recycle and composting program. At Tighe’s Bistro Americain we have a lot more space to operate such a program, it will be even better. Any small local farmers interested in our composting plans, please get in touch with us. Thank you.

Another good sign of winding down the project. I’ve lost track of how many times we’ve filled up and had our construction debris hauled off. These guys were the best. Worked with us every step of the way. The last load and the container leaves this week.

Getting closer everyday. Passed our electric inspection last week. Scheduling our Health Department inspection this week, then the final building inspection after that. We’ll need a little time for hiring*and training*, then these doors will at long last be opened (*we’re still seeking employees, our Employment Applications are available in pdf form on our website www.tighesbistroamericain.com. Please spread the word, paper copies available in the front vestibule at 2703 NY Rt 43, Averill Park, NY 12018).

We have been blessed with great community support and interest in our renovation project. We’ve shared our ups and our downs over the last 37 months. 5 months ago we were given a very generous 6 month extension to complete the project. At the time I was sure that would be plenty of time to finish. Then, starting last week, a series of unfortunate events began. My truck ended in the shop (bad wheel bearings). This truck might be the most important tool we had for this pro...ject. Fortunately, we have a great local mechanic but it was still an unexpected expense and delay. A few days later we were back on the road. My MiniMac, which we purchased to control our POS system, slipped into pinwheel mode. Getting it repaired or replaced will need to be pushed forward to a later date (the POS is not required to pass any of our needed inspections). While testing all the equipment I discovered the wine refrigerator (which I purchased new a few years ago but didn’t plug in until last week) won’t cool lower the 50 degrees F. The warranty already expired. A used kitchen fridge developed a bad fan noise. The furnace quit. The switch on the exhaust failed. I’ve posted in the past how optimism is so important to me, but I have to admit last week was a crusher. This week will be better. See more
