December 2020: While the pandemic has shut down some aspects of our lives, it has also allowed us time to revisit the bench project that began as a youth program over fifteen years ago and has continued on and off since then. This 2020 iteration of benches the Founders Edition includes a series of four-foot benches cut, assembled, and painted in bright red, green, blue, and yellow, by TSL’s very own Linda and Claudia. The price of these select seats is $250 and, if requ...ested, can be autographed, in permanent Sharpie!, by the founders themselves. In addition to new benches, TSL continues to keep an eye on and, when needed, to refurbish some of the older benches that have proven to be very popular at the Amtrak station and at the Department of Motor Vehicles in Hudson. As one of our fans has written: The benches reflect the spirit of TSL exactly. They are bright, functional, and greatly appreciated by the public.

Fifteen years have passed since the events of Two Square Miles, Barbara Ettinger’s documentary film on Hudson and its residents during a momentous period in the city’s history. Many of the issues featured in the film are still here with us today, and new challenges lie ahead. Economic and racial disparity, development of the waterfront, local vs. non-local, tourism vs. industry, affordable housing, and more. Join us for a virtual conversation with Sam J. Miller, Quintin Cross, Linda Mussmann, and Jacob Walthour Hudson residents past and present who played an active role in the events of the documentary.
