Tip of the Week: When buying wood furniture bring 800 grit sand paper with you. When you find a piece that you like, take the sandpaper and rub it on a small area on the top and if the color comes out dont buy from that manufacturer. What that means is that the factory didnt stain and seal the wood with lacquer but instead sprayed the color and lacquer in one coat. They basically spray painted the piece with stain and lacquer instead of rubbing the stain in and sealing the color in. Wood furniture should have multiple coats of lacquer which helps prolong the life of the piece. Factories today apply stain and lacquer in one coat which makes it easier for them to produce the pieces and save money.

Tip of the Week: When buying leather furniture be careful of misinformed sales people. The factories only put genuine leather on the seating areas not the backs or sides. The backs and sides are pleather, bonded leather or vinyl. This is common for most factories to do. If the piece was done entirely in leather it would cost 5x more than what they are asking. Sales people usually say what they need to to get the sale and sometimes they just dont know any better. They will tell you its all leather, or they will say bonded leather is the next best thing. Bonded leather is horrible! It will peel and discolor and cannot be repaired. You can always call me if you are shopping and need some referrals to honest stores and owners that I do business with.

Tip of the week: Always clean and condition your leather sofa at least once a month. You can buy a 2 in 1 cleaner conditioner like Mothers from Pepboys or any auto part store. If you dont the leather will dry up which causes cracking, fading in color and build up of dirt.
