The Thousand Island Park Library is sad to announce the passing of its longtime former director, Mabel Mamie Denner Heath. An Alexandria Bay native, Mrs. Heath’s passion for books and the River made her an institution at the library and in the village of Thousand Island Park. Mrs. Heath’s leadership at the library inspired generations of T. I. Park community leaders. Library Board mem...Continue reading

Patron health and safety remains the top priority of the Thousand Island Park Library. With this goal in mind, we are now requiring children who attend our story hours to wear masks if they are medically capable of doing so. Our young readers aren’t always conscious of social distancing, and having this requirement in place helps us do all we can to keep TI Park kids safe and healthy while they have fun!

As the Thousand Island Park community welcomes more summer visitors, the Library looks to offer more in-person services for the remainder of the season, BEGINNING TOMORROW JULY 8. Given that many of our seasonal residents are travelling from all over the country, we plan to have a few common sense safety measures in place. We would like to limit our building capacity to no more than 3 patrons at a time, and require that everyone wear a mask. Social distancing will be maintain...ed. We ask that patrons use the hand sanitizer by the front door upon entering the building. We will continue to offer a curbside pickup option for patrons who are not comfortable with in-person services. We will also continue to sanitize high-touch areas like doorknobs, require staff to wear masks, and quarantine materials for 72 hours. We hope residents will enjoy our new modified story time in the gazebo! To be sure we can properly clean and quarantine our yoga mats, story hour will be held on Mondays and Fridays at 10am. All ages are welcome, and we have 7 mats available for early birds. Please bring your own towel to sit on, just in case. Because social distancing is not possible in our building for large groups, story hour is weather-dependent. Story hour has a 15-child limit, so be sure to get here on time! Children under 5 must be promptly picked up by a parent or guardian after story time ends, as they will not be sent home unaccompanied. Please provide your contact information when dropping off your child. Additionally, In compliance with Governor Cuomo’s orders, we also require patrons traveling from the following states to self-quarantine for two weeks before entering the building: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nevada, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Utah.
