2020 ANNUAL APPEAL TO THE COMMUNITY: Dear Friends of the Tivoli Free Library, We, the Board of Trustees of the Tivoli Free Library write this fall with deep gratitude for your continued support of our community library over the past year. It has been quite a year. As our community has had to grapple with great challenges, Tivoli Free Library’s Staff Director Michele DelPriore, Circulation Manager Amanda Traudt, Program Coordinators Arobi Hanif and Noelle Morgan, and Cl...erks Beth Cooper and Daniele DeBellis has continued to provide the great service that we expect from our library. Although much of 2020 has come to be dominated by the news and realities of dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, our library has been stellar. We are proud of the stewardship of Michele and the talented offerings of our staff. Not only did they deal with the logistics of the non-essential shut down and phased reopening, but they kept us entertained while we were confined to our homes. The library deftly shifted programs online such as Arobi’s Bollywood dancing, Code Club, Dungeons and Dragons and book clubs. A whole host of new online offerings was created including an online Tivoli at Home page and programs such as Beth’s Storytime Yoga, Noelle’s Calligraphy, Paint and Sip and Meet Our Makers. Take and Make craft kits and a new subscription to the online crafting service, Creativebug, kept us crafting. The library’s other online services such as Kanopy were widely used, and the library quickly invested in technology such as hotspots to help provide internet connectivity at home. Curbside service was an early logistical feat, and the library waived its overdue fines for many months. It seems exhausting to list all of the ways the library staff has worked to avoid an interruption in the library’s service and to support the community with materials and programs during this period. We write this request knowing that it has been a difficult year. This year more than ever, we can see the important role libraries serve as valuable resources and as civic spaces that enable lifelong learning, and engagement with each other. Therefore if it is in your means, your support this year would make possible even more of what makes our library the extraordinarily special place that it is. You can do so by check or by clicking the donate button on our website. Thank you in advance for your help, and best wishes for the holiday season and 2021. Warm regards, Laura Gail Tyler, President & The Tivoli Free Library Board of Trustees: Leigh Palmer, Vice President; Gautam Sethi, Treasurer; Linda Legendre, Secretary; Joseph Campisi, Jeanette Canaday, Penny Slingerland, Jennifer Laughran, Hildegard Edling, Wendy Hansen
