As an event producer, this image makes my heart burst with pride. An intricate and complicated event to produce under normal times, the pandemic creates all kinds of unprecedented event production hurdles. And let’s not (ever) forget the attack on this building 2 weeks ago creating a security nightmare for today. My congratulations to all of those who collaborated on this production today. Bravo, my friends. It looks beautiful. On a personal level, and as a female ...entrepreneur, I am excited for the next 4 years and will be celebrating as President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, the first female to hold this high office, are sworn in today. #unityisstrength #breaktheglassceiling

Repost//Glass Ceiling// I can’t claim that I’ve broken any ceilings here. I can tell you, that impossible is not in my vocabulary. I’ve been taught, everything is possible, if I put my heart, soul and mind to it. (I have my parents to thank for instilling that in me.) While event planning is a female dominated industry, event production is not. You get to see all the pretty here on this page, but much of my career has been spent in a construction trailer in a field or ...parking lot in extreme temperatures, building small cities within a weeks time. The hours are long, the work is hard and the reward is phenomenal. I can also tell you that 9 times out of 10, the labor team comes on site and asks me who’s in charge? When I answer me, I often get a side glance or a follow up question of no, but who is your boss? and the answer to that is you’re looking at her. Every time we start working with a new labor team, I am forced to prove myself...show them that I understand how to build my events, how long it should take to do it and what it should cost. I will say, that more often than not, I do (quite quickly) earn the respect of the team but not without getting a few little lady comments along the way. Why, because of my gender, is it assumed that I do not know these things? I have spent the last 20 years getting my hands dirty and learning as much as I can about my industry. I am more than qualified to be the man in charge. There are, in fact, many women in my industry who are equally as qualified. Regardless of who you voted for, I hope you can see that having a woman in the second highest office in the land, is a giant step forward for all the women out there earning the respect of their male colleagues. I want to make sure to point out that there are some truly amazing and supportive men in my industry too. I try to surround myself with them. They treat me with respect and together, we have built amazing things. I’ll end with this. I’m excited. I’m hopeful. And I’m SO very ready to get back to work building amazing experiences for ALL. So please, wear a mask, let’s beat this virus and let me get back to getting my hands dirty
