Hempstead Town Supervisor Don Clavin, my Town of Hempstead colleagues and I sent the below letter to Governor Cuomo today requesting that he reconsider his refusal to lift the mask mandate for students in grades Pre-K through 12th grade. We make this request in view of the fact that the Governor has now removed almost all Covid 19 restrictions due to NYS low infection rate and high vaccination rate. Other states have done so and it is time for New York to follow suit.

Congrats to superstar lacrosse player Sydney Rathjen a senior at Southside High School as she is named one of Newsday’s Top 100 Athletes! Good luck at Brown University Sydney! Councilman Anthony D'Esposito, Hempstead Town Clerk Kate Murray and I had the pleasure of meeting Sydney and her lovely mom.

A great start to the day as Town of Hempstead welcomes Girls On The Run Long Island to a beautiful new office space In East Meadow! Girls On The Run offers innovative programs that include having trained coaches focus on building social, emotional and physical skills in every girl while encouraging healthy habits for life. Councilman Thomas Muscarella, Hempstead Town Clerk Kate Murray and I , along with partners in government and members of the East Meadow Chamber of Commerce in welcoming Girls On The Run to America's largest township.

Just a gorgeous afternoon to congratulate the Friends of Rock Hall on their 45th Annual Meeting and Installation of Officers! I was happy to join Hempstead Town Supervisor Don Clavin Hempstead Town Clerk Kate Murray, President Doug Sheer and the community group for this cultural occasion. At this beautiful setting we also honored outstanding students from the #FiveTowns who have excelled academically with their good works and dedication The Friends of Rock Hall have been a dedicated collective of history lovers and community leaders who continually support Rock Hall, Hempstead Town’s historic home built in 1767.
