Thanks for being part of Topaz Arts' 20 years! Until we can safely gather, enjoy highlights of artists who have come to create and events that have happened over 20 Years at Topaz, and there's many more that 3-minutes can capture (sound ON! music is by Todd Richmond) Many thanks for the generosity of so many during #GivingTuesday - there's only few days left in this challenging year to join us in this "celebration"! https://www.facebook.com/donate/383651252839254/3651999938180064/

Today we joined @dancerisingnyc and NYC professional dancers as we took to the windows, streets and rooftops to dance. Paz Tanjuaquio performed on the rooftop of Topaz Arts, filmmed by Todd Richmond. After months of social isolation, economic shutdown, and pause for our industry, professional dancers are rising up. We are dancing to be seen, counted, and spark crucial conversations about the future of dance in NYC. Kevin Tarrant for awardee Louis Mofsie, Director of Thunderbird American Indian Dancers performed a traditional indigenous song at the 2019 The New York Dance and Performance Awards/ The Bessies received what seemed like a very very long standing ovation to which he stated "I must have done something right". Kevin Tarrant did a lot right in his life as he could warmly guide a theater full of indigenous and non indigenous people and in a very inclusive way bring everyone together, 2020 RIP.
