I'm excited to give you a quick glimpse of this beautiful basement remodeling job we recently completed in Delmar, NY. If you're thinking about investing in your basement to expand your home's livable space, you would be wise to have Top Course inspect your foundation for cracks and potential water issues that could lead to basement flooding if not addressed. You definitely do not want to put a bandaid on your foundation walls and hope for the best. Thankfully, these Delmar homeowners took our advice and now they never have to worry about water damage in their beautiful new living space.

If you own an early 1900s home, your foundation is most likely crumbling and causing water problems in your basement. In this video, Paul Lachar shows you what the excavated foundation looks like on the outside and then takes you into the basement to show you foundation problems on the inside. The only way to fix water issues is from the outside in. Take a look. We hope you'll follow us on Facebook to watch more videos on foundations, patios, walkways, retaining walls and mo...re. You know how much I love talking about foundations! I was happy to be invited by local real estate agent and Downsizing Expert - Nina Sher-Licensed Real Estate Salesperson, HUNT Real Estate ERA to share my expertise about foundations on her YouTube Channel this week. As a former teacher, Nina Sher goes above and beyond to educate her buyers and sellers so they can be more informed. We talked about red flags to be aware of, but also fixable foundation cracks, water issues, w...aterproofing paint (can cause more damage), finished basements (when you can't see the foundation) and more. Some of these issues don't have to be deal breakers if you like everything else about the house. And sellers, if you're thinking about putting your house on the market, you should fix any foundation issues now before you list your house. In the video, I talk about common foundation problems, the cost to repair a foundation, and how much I charge for estimates - virtual and in-person. Need an estimate? Give me a call at 518-512-7341. -Paul Lachar, owner & mason We do foundation work all year round, even in the winter. Need a professional real estate agent in Albany's Capital Region? Call Nina Sher at 518-368-5578. Please share if you know anyone with cracked or bowed foundations or water problems. #masonalbanyny #masonrycontractor #wetbasements

Here we're helping out a nice family in Poestenkill, NY with their basement's water issues. A few years ago, they worked with a company who said they would fix the water issues by installing a new layer of cement with mesh by adhering it to their foundation. That is not a solution we recommend. The problem is air pockets develop at the ground level creating moisture and insect issues. We don't take the bandaid approach. We get the root of the problem so you'll never have to... worry about a wet basement again. Do you have a wet basement or other foundation issues? Give us a call! We're proud to have been selected as the masonry company of choice to repair and waterproof this historic building in Albany, NY built in 1885. Brick masonry is one of the oldest materials in the world and it requires occasional maintenace to ensure its longevity. Before we begin any historic brick pointing/repair work, it is important that we learn the age of the building to help us assess the composition of the mortar used between the bricks when the building was construct...ed. In this case, due to the 135 year old brick we're using a lime mortar. Portland cement wasn't introduced until the 19th century. If you have brick masonry that needs repair or waterproofing, give us a call.
