Hi Guys In honor of the New Year, I thought it would be a good idea to reintroduce myself and my company to anybody who is not particularly familiar with the story! My name is Tom Meccariello, and I am a Licensed New York State Home Inspector! Partnered with my wife Diana, we started our company Total Home Inspectors in 2018, and have been providing residential and commercial real estate inspections across Long Island New York, and the 5 boroughs. The creatio...n of this company was decided after about 5 years of experience working as a mechanical engineer, where I realized that I truly wanted to pursue a more entrepreneurial path. However, I am grateful for my experience as an engineer, where I was able to learn how to conduct myself with a higher level of professionalism and develop the project management skills that would soon become necessary for this entrepreneurship. My wife has a background in psychology and sociology and is the muscle behind our marketing efforts. Going on 4 years with the business, we love what we do and I PERSONALLY love helping new home buyers by applying my knowledge of structures on every unique job. And if you know me on a personal level, then you know I am being sincere when I say that I enjoy helping others (and that I enjoy explaining all things technical )! We are excited for the New Year and looking forward to our 4th year in business, as well as expanding our services to upstate NY in the near future! Thanks for reading! - Tom . . . . #nyhomeinspector #homeinspection #homeinspectorny #realestateny #longislandny

Checkout this chimney. The haymaker waiting to happen is what I find most interesting! Also, all this moss growth in between the mortar, bricks, and concrete crown is not only deteriorating the mortar and concrete, but reducing the ability of the chimney to keep out moisture. You can see that the moss around the chimney crown just said nope to that silicon job! Additionally, where the roof meets the chimney, the moss build up in this location is reducing the ability ...for the flashing to do its job and route water away from this area, and you can see that the growing moss may have impacted the integrity for the flashing as well as it grew. However, even on chimneys that are flashed well, you will want to keep this area free of moss to prevent moisture retention in this area. . . . . #homeinspection #chimneyinspection #homeinspector #nyhomeinspector #newyorkhomeinspector #newyorkhomeinspection #husbandandwifeteam #husbandandwifecompany #husbandandewifebusiness #homebuyers #newhomebuyers See more

It’s Earth Day! Here are some ways to create a more sustainable way of living in your home. Here is an easier one, switch to eco-friendly house cleaning products. Ingredients can be as simple as vinegar, baking soda, and lemon juice with essential oils. Insulate and weatherproof your home. You can conserve energy, lower your energy bills and prevent air leaks by having your home properly sealed and insulated, if it is not already.... Compost at home to reduce waste. You can start a compost pile to ensure the waste won’t end up in landfills - other benefits of composting include richer soil that you can then put back into your yard. And lastly, converting your energy from fossil fuels to green energy like solar panels. Fossil fuels are a major source of air pollution and are not necessary when we have an abundant supply of renewable energy through the sun. Anything else you’d guys like to add? Happy Earth Day! . . . . . #earthday #motherearth #mothernature #greeninspector #homeinspector #homeinspection #nyhomeinspector #newyorkhomeinspector #nyrealestate #homeinspection #nyhomeinspection See more
