Time for another TCDM Student Spotlight This is Umar Pasha. He's set to graduate in 2022 and is originally from Ticonderoga, NY What made you want to become a dentist? I was an associate producer at The Howard Stern Show, but after 2 years in show business I decided I wanted a more fulfilling career. I love meeting new people and using my hand skills to make a difference, so naturally dentistry was a perfect fit for me! ... What is a fun fact about you? A fun fact about me is that I know the capital of every country in the world (ask me anytime, anywhere)!

Every educator has been facing the challenges of putting digital tools to work in the teaching environment. We were featured in this Westfair Online article about how this challenge has been exponentially greater because dentistry itself has been making a fundamental transition to the digital world.

Student Spotlight of the Week Christopher is a first year student at TCDM, set to graduate in 2024, and originally from Commack, New York Where did you do your undergrad and what was your major? Stetson University with a major in biology and a minor in psychology... Why did you choose TCDM? I love the fact that TCDM is a new school; it is up-to-date with the latest dental technology and it is forward thinking. What made you want to become a dentist? After shadowing and assisting an oral surgeon, I realized I loved the attention to detail, the excitement and the relief the patients experience once a procedure is done.

Touro Dental Health has expanded to include a new Complex Care Clinic to meet the needs of patients requiring more advanced treatment. Led by Dr. Barbra Jurim, Director of the Complex Care Clinic, along with Dr. Alan Jurim, the clinic brings together TCDM faculty from multiple dental specialties who use the latest tools and techniques in digital dentistry to efficiently manage complex dental cases. https://dental.touro.edu//touro-college-of-dental-medicine

In his latest blog post TCDM Alum, Dr. Justin Goff, not only shares some of his latest accomplishments and experiences as a newly licensed dentist, but also inspires us with a message of unity during a turbulent time in our nation. Regardless of what makes us different, from the color of our skin to who we are voting for next month, let us not forget that we are all Americans. We are all on the same ship together. And while we strive to influence change in many ways the best way is to live each day with kindness for those around us, no matter how similar or how different.

We're ending National Dental Hygiene Month with a spotlight on one of our newest team members. Meet David Olivo, RDH. David Olivo supervises and instructs D3 and D4 students to apply the skills taught in pre-clinic and the classroom during their D2 year with competency on patients at Touro Dental Health. Prior to joining the TCDM family this past March, David worked in private practice and at a FQHC serving a largely Hispanic and Hasidic Jewish community. Before he became a... Hygienist, David had a career making surgical training videos for orthopedic implant companies and shares that he still enjoys working with digital equipment, making music and wedding videos from time to time as a hobby. The most rewarding part of my job is when a patient expresses gratitude to their student providers after receiving the high-standard of care taught by the faculty at Touro.
