In East Hampton’s largest farmland preservation effort yet, the Town of East Hampton, led by Town Supervisor Peter Van Scoyoc, reaches agreement to purchase and preserve over 32 acres of prime agricultural land in Amagansett center, securing a beloved vista as well as future ability to farm. Town will purchase a portion of the Bistrian farm outright, and obtain agricultural easements over the rest using $28 million in Community Preservation Funds. Tomorrow is Juneteenth, a day that celebrates the emancipation of formerly enslaved African-Americans and the end of slavery in the U.S. The day was declared a federal holiday by President Joe Biden this week, and is also a NYS holiday. STOP Day, your twice-yearly opportunity to safely and conveniently dispose of household chemicals and products, is June 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the East Hampton recycling center on Springs-Fireplace Road, so round up your antifreeze, pesticides, oil paints, solvents and the like. Drop-offs on STOP Day are free, and proper disposal helps to protect our environment.
