Town of Horseheads Code Enforcement

The Town of Horseheads Code Enforcement Office wanted to give an update during the start of the Fall Season. Please remember that if you are unsure about whether or not a building permit is required, CALL OUR OFFICE at 607-739-7605. During the Summer our office has issued over 35 Stop Work Orders for people building without a permit. Also, please remember that any open burning is against the law in the Town of Horseheads. Please do not burn sticks, leaves or any yard waste as it can cause dangerous fire situations, especially with how dry this summer has been. All of your yard waste can be dropped off at the Chemung County Compost Facility located on Blostein Blvd. Have a safe Fall Season and remember if you have any questions please call.

The Horseheads Town Hall is open and so is the Code Enforcement Office. Please continue to call us at 607-739-7605 before you come to set up an appointment as they are encouraged to make sure that we are in the office. If you plan on stopping in please come during our office hours which are from 8:00am-10:00am and 3:00pm-3:45pm. Masks are still required upon entry into the Town Hall, and please be patient as everyone has to check in with the clerk's office before being let into the other offices. Thank you.

On May 15, 2020 Governor Cuomo has allowed construction to begin again during the Phase 1 reopening of New York State. This means that our office will no longer have restrictions on issuing building permits. Please remember that the Town Hall is still closed to the public, and it will be required for any applicants to call the office at 607-739-7605 to make an appointment. When at the Horseheads Town Hall any person entering the building will also be required to wear a mask. Contractors will have to do their best to continue to practice all social distancing measures while on the job site. We look forward to a safe and productive construction season.
