Merry Christmas

Town of Lloyd Police 13.12.2020

"Oh Christmas Tree" This past May, Town of Lloyd Police responded to the residence of an 85-year-old Highland senior citizen whose wife of 50 years had just passed away. As spring turned to summer and summer rolled into fall, Chief Janso and Lt. Roloson from time-to time would go and pay a visit to the Highland man and see how he was doing. One fall day the gentleman stopped by the station and spoke to Chief Janso about how he had to start parting with things from his late w...ife. The next day Chief Janso and Lt. Roloson went and visited the gentleman. One item that stuck out the most to Chief Janso was a Christmas tree. He then purchased one of his wife’s Christmas trees for the police department along with some of the ornaments and decorations. A few days after the tree was up and decorated by members of the police department, Chief Janso visited the gentleman and told him the tree was up, decorated and he should come see it. The gentleman went to the station and was so incredibly happy to see that his wife's tree was up in the station. To most people this is just a Christmas tree... but to someone in the community this tree meant a lot to him and his late wife. Sometimes, the smallest and simplest act of kindness such as purchasing a Christmas tree means the most to others and brings joy to them. So, the next time you see a Christmas tree, stop and look at it, enjoy it and remember it is just not a Christmas tree. It is a whole lot more. It is memories, family, love and the spirit of the season! Merry Christmas!

Thank you Ulster County District Attorney Clegg for supporting law enforcement and taking a stand on this issue-Chief Janso Ulster DA warns against harassing police September 22, 2020... Ulster DA David Clegg address concerns of stalking off-duty cops KINGSTON Within about the last six months, Ulster County has incurred four instances where off-duty police officers and their families have been harassed, stalked and victimized by criminal mischief. One instance occurred in the Town of Esopus and three others were in the Town of Lloyd, and all four are being investigated. It is a concern because emotions are so high, said Ulster County District Attorney David Clegg, following a news conference at the steps of the Ulster County Courthouse in Kingston Tuesday morning. There is so much antagonism on the issue of Black Lives Matter versus a Blue Lives Matter kind of thing. It shouldn’t be mutually exclusive. Blue lives matter, and black lives matter. Clegg said local police commissions are working to bring more harmony with their departments and the public, but he’s now afraid targeting off-duty officers and their families will set back the efforts toward this progress. Can’t we all just make our law enforcement community and our criminal justice community more just and safe at the same time? he said. That’s where my concern is. We can lose all the progress we are about to make if people start acting in a vigilante manner, and I want to prevent that from happening in our county.

Facebook Re-post from Michelle Hinchey : In a time of so much division across our State, the role of our State Senator should be to bring people together, talk the issues, and find the best path forward for everyone. I had the privilege of meeting with the Town of Lloyd Police Chief Janso and Lt. Roloson to talk about their commitment to community service and the programs they’ve implemented to foster stronger community relationships. Everyone agrees, we want an equitable c...riminal justice system that keeps people safe and works for everyone. Chief Janso and his team spearhead and undergo a host of critical training courses, in partnership with the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, including Implicit Bias, Use of Force, Deescalation, Procedural Justice, Discrimination and Harassment, and Anti-Bias Policing, and they’re in the process of purchasing body cameras which are proven to keep both the community and officers safe. Something we should be expanding across departments. In our conversation, we also discussed how important it is for officers to be a part of the community they’re tasked to serve and protect. The Station’s community involvement is impressive with a monthly Youth Rec League with the officers, a monthly coffee klatch with community members, senior wellness check-in calls, toy drives, food drives and even an Ice Cream Card program giving free cones to kids they meet on patrol. These are the types of initiatives we need to be encouraging, supporting and expanding. Law enforcement plays an important role in our community. One that should serve to make people feel safe and protected. As your State Senator, I’ll work to rebuild community relationships, expand forward-thinking programs like these, and make sure we all have an equal, safe and supportive justice system. And I look forward to working with partners like Chief Janso to do it. Thank you Michelle Hinchey for visiting our department and speaking with our members about our dedication to the Lloyd community and our visions for the future.
