This week we celebrate our EMS heroes at Trans Am Ambulance and honor all they do to protect and serve the health and safety of our communities. If you didn't already know, InVINCEble EMT - a Woodland in the City project sculpture - resides across the street from our headquarters in Olean. We fondly call him Vince, and he has special meaning for us. In the artist's words: InVINCEble is modeled after an ambulance technician, complete with a stethoscope, hat, badge and set of ...forceps tucked in a pocket. The statue’s tail has a mural depicting several major disasters crews from the local ambulance company responded to, including Hurricane Katrina, the September 11th attacks, and the Gowanda flooding. Why he's special to us: The Trans Am EMS team, lead by Todd Reisner (who was a paramedic at the time), acted quickly to save a young boy's life. Vince Houghtaling was playing football in the park when he went into cardiac arrest after being hit in the chest with a ball. His mother flagged the Trans Am team and they acted quickly to administer life-saving interventions that helped save the boy's life. The squirrel statue stands in a small park directly across the street from our headquarters as well as Vince’s home and is a continuous reminder of the heroic efforts we carry out each day to make a difference in the lives of others. #HappyEMSWeek #StrongerTogether #EMSHeroes

The Trans Am family was saddened this week at the unexpected passing of one of our own, EMT Daniel Boutwell. Daniel has worked with Trans Am for nearly 10 years, and he will be deeply missed by his EMS family. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time. A memorial service will be held at a date and time to be announced after the pandemic restrictions are lifted. Daniel's obituary shares more about his life and provides a method to donate in his honor: https://bit.ly/2YiJkd4

With social gatherings cancelled due to the lockdown in the state of New York, the couple, Paramedic Dylan Chamberlain and EMT Cheryl Breunig Chamberlain decided to move forward and celebrate their legal marriage ceremony with the Trans Am night shift serving as witness! Shift Supervisor Robert Pritchard officiated the ceremony last night. Congratulations to the happy couple! The dedication of this couple celebrating with their EMS family as they continue to serve their community during this outbreak is a reminder that EMS is always open. We ask the community to help us serve you by staying home. #alwaysopen #stayhomeforus

Join us in congratulating the entire Trans Am team for earning the American Heart Association's Mission: Lifeline award for FIVE consecutive years! This award means a lot to all of us. It means we provide the highest levels of care to patients experiencing severe (STEMI) heart attacks and is a testament to our commitment to the people who entrust their care to the Trans Am team of skilled EMS professionals. We could not be more proud to know that our direct efforts and collaboration with our hospital partners have - and will - save lives. #proudtoserve #AHAMissionLifeline

Local students from Washington West Elementary School brought their stuffed animals on "Buddy's First Visit" trip to learn about Olean General Hospital and other health care agencies, like Trans Am Ambulance. We were proud to be a part of this great event and provide tours of our ambulances to the class.
