Congratulations to Phil Edkins on getting down with his gravel side on his new 2021 Trek Checkpoint ALR 5! He'll be slaying some gravel this new rig equipped with Trek's 300 Series Alpha Aluminum frame , Shimano's GRX 11-speed drivetrain , and Bontrager Tubeless-Ready 700c wheelset! If you see Phil don't try to follow him on your road bike! He now has mountain bike skills to go with his gravel bike!

We want to give a huge shout out to all of the riders who have come to our many group rides we had this season! There were so many new faces with smiles this year! Yesterday was our last big event for the season. Congrats to everyone who completed either the 55 or 104 mile routes! We will continue to do rides every other Sunday until it gets to be too ! So, look for ride posts! We want to give special thanks to a few people who made these rides extra special! Follow the Fat ...Guy to Ironman Kona Matt Schorer who put on our Wednesday and now Saturday rides. He also is a huge ambassador to cycling in general. Without Matt, well the would just be less interesting. Marc Ritter for attending almost all of the rides and being a huge advocate for them! Brett Saunders for sweeping the rides and providing 15 WHOLE POUNDS of pulled pork yesterday! Oh, how we love those "brasteries" or what you call caramelitas. Phil Edkins for sweeping and always having an awesome attitude! Just like Matt he is an awesome guy and has great enthusiasm for cycling! William Curtis for bringing beer and being sweep for a lot of the rides! You are awesome! Ella Caiola from Nothing Bundt Cakes for providing many amazingly tasty treats! Also, for coming to all of our rides! Les Dunlap and Darryl Fedor for being our grill chef for the day and bringing even more food! Dan Worden, Theron Colucci, Susan Sheerin Muller, John & Barb Taverne, and Scott Lombard for bringing beer and other awesome food to our events! Last and not least, Robert Shelkey (XXX SeXXXy) who is our head mechanic and logistics man who has always been one of the main guys behind the scenes of our group ride series! We you Bobert! A lot of other people provided food for our group rides throughout the year as well! I'm sorry if I didn't mention you! But, without everyone there would be no group rides. It will feature a slightly shortened route over last year of 103 miles and 3,100 ft of elevation gain. 18-20 mph average on this flat route is doable for most. Strong showing for Trek Store of New Hartford today at The Forge 26.2 Gravel Grinder. All of us got lost, got caught in the rain, ran out of water, and were assaulted by ATV's. But, we made the best of it and had fun anyways. Because we were on bikes! At least there was at the end. Missing from this picture were Jordan and Aaron Sirtoli.
