The Old Village Mill was on the property just east of the Beesmer home. Long before that time it was the Andrus family home. Some of Andrus family is buried in the Old Burying Ground just west of the Beesmer property. Editor Blanchard Reminisces George H. Andrus of Pitcher was in town Wednesday on business. If you ever go to Wells Cemetery ( it is very small).... stand at the south west corner. You will see some beautiful stones with the name with the Wells family name. They are beautiful stones that stood the test of time. Well they made of limestone and slate. They came from the bed of what is now DeRuyter Lake.

Wells Cemetery on Hunt Road Another Sad Accident Thursday afternoon, last, Eddie Money came to the Village with a load of wood, and while returning the team became frightened from some cause and. ran away, throwing him out near the foot of the hill south of Isaac Higley's. Mr. Higley and others who saw the runaway team hastened to the spot; Dr McCellan was summoned, and as his internal injuries were so severe that nothing could be done for him he was taken home, where death e...nded his sufferings at 7:10, some two hours after the accident. His back was badly bruised, two or three ribs broken away and both sides discolored by contusions. What frightened the horses can only be conjectured. A neighbor had borrowed his new lumber wagon and left an old one in its place, which he had occasion to use. It bad a double box, surmounted by a spring seat; the iron that held the neckyoke had been replaced by a loose bolt, which was ahead of the yoke when the team was stopped at Garrison Carey's. Evidently the bolt had bounded up and down as the team trotted along until the large ring in the yoke had slipped behind it., letting the wagon on to the team, and as saw wagon sheered from the road one wheel struck a large stone, throwing the driver out. The skin was worn from the knuckles of one hand, showing that he was dragged a short distance. Mr. Money was an industrious young man, highly respected by all who knew him. Deep sympathy is felt for his wife, whose health has been very poor for some time. June 11 1891 There was an error or two, we are informed, in the account of Eddie Money's death. At the time he got the neighbor's wagon, the hold-back iron on the end of the pole is said to have been whole and solid, and the brace part of the iron might have been broken while the team was hitched in town. His policy in the Oxford had lately lapsed; $5 more paid in would have left $2,000 to the widow IN MEMORIAM. Eddie S. Money, son of A. V and Adaline Money, was born in Otselic. September 9, 1864, and died in DeRuyter, May 28, 1891. His boyhood days were spent in Otselic and on the 16th of November, 1882, he was happily married to Jennie, oldest daughter of Sherman P. Smith of DeRuyter. Eight years passed awayyears of continuous industry and mutual affectioneach happy in the other's joys and sacrifices, and the providence of God smiling on them. For more than a year they have fright and he was thrown from the wagon and bruised internally. Medical attendance was called and everything done to help, but when carried home he only breathed a few times after he was laid on his own bed. The funeral on the afternoon of the 30th was attended by a vast concourse of people, and the sorrowing wife and bereaved parents have the sympathy of the whole community. L.R.S. been living upon the farm of Mrs. J. H. Crumb, near the Rake factory, where he has been known for his kindly ways, laborious life and remarkably good habits, and had become a favorite with all. See more
