James Jamie Magur is a lifelong resident of Troy who grew up in his Grandmother’s restaurant, Connie's Coffee Break, surrounded by family and immersed in the ...Troy community. Jamie graduated from OLV, CCHS, and Manhattan College and now proudly owns and operates Troy Grooming Co in downtown Troy, carrying on the family tradition of barbering. He learned barbering from his two uncles, Charlie Parella and Tony Case - both long time Troy barbers. Jamie and his wife, Amy, are the parents of 2 little girls, Stella (6)and Piper (3). Jamie is the son of James Sr., a Troy mail carrier for 40 years, and Theresa Terry Ligato Magur, a local restaurateur who owned and operated Café Terese and most recently Terry’s Kitchen and Catering. Jamie’s grandfather, Nick Slick Magur was a lifelong butcher and mainstay in the St. Joseph’s neighborhood of South Troy. Jamie’s Uncle is Rev. Anthony Ligato of St. Jude’s in Wynantskill, which Jamie’s daughter Stella currently attends. Amy Magur’s Grandparents, Donald and Patricia Cunningham are longtime Republican Committee members and Troy residents. Her brother serves on the Troy Police Force and her uncle and cousin serve on the Troy Fire Department. Jamie is the proud grandson of Constance Connie Ligato, owner of longtime Troy staple - Connie’s Coffee Break. As a way of partnering with the community and carrying on a family traditions, Jamie has teamed up with Unity House, collecting for holiday food drives over the past 4 years. In 2017 Jamie and his wife Amy were able to restore the fountain in Frear Park with the help of friends, their own capital and help from the City of Troy. Additionally, Jamie and Amy are personally invested in Troy. They own and operate Magur Management LLC (small construction company) and Magur Homes (real estate company). Over the past 4 years they have purchased and renovated 8 buildings which serve as a mix of apartments and small businesses all over Troy. Jamie and Amy personally manage and care for them with pride. Jamie also serves as Vice President of the Frear Park Conservancy, Troy BID Board of Directors and sits on the Troy YMCA Advisory Council. Building on these strong family roots, and his long standing commitment to the Troy Community, Jamie wants to continue to give back and invest in the City’s future by serving the residents on the City Council.
