Real Talk on Islam

I wish & pray for a most joyous and peaceful mother’s day to all the mothers. On this happy occasion, I cannot help but think of the great emphasis that Islam p...laces on good treatment of parents in general, but mothers in particular. The Holy Quran states: "And We (God) have enjoined on human concerning his parentshis mother bears him in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning takes two years‘Give thanks to Me and to thy parents. Unto Me is the final return." (31:15) At another place, it is stated in the Holy Quran: "Thy Lord has commanded, Worship none but Him, and show kindness to parents. If one of them attain old age with thee or both of them, never say unto them any word expressive of disgust, nor reproach them, but always address them with excellent speech. And lower to them the wing of humility out of tenderness. And say, ‘My Lord, have mercy on them even as they nourished me in my childhood. "(17:24-25) Prophet Mohammad stated: "Heaven lies under the feet of your mothers." Meaning that service and good treatment offered towards one’s mother will earn a person his paradise. On another occasion, a person asked O Allah's Messenger, who amongst the people is most deserving of my good treatment? He (Prophet Mohammad) said: Your mother, again your mother, again your mother, then your father, then your nearest relatives according to the order (of nearness). Hence he emphasized mother three times more than father. May God give us strength and means to fulfill our obligations in the most amicable manner, Ameen.

Wishing a happy and blessed Passover and Easter to all who celebrate it. May the Almighty bestow His peace and mercy on all of us, ameen. It may be interesting ...to note that Muslims hold Prophets Abraham, Moses, & Jesus (peace be upon all of them) in high reverence. In fact, no Muslim can fulfill the criteria to be called a faithful Muslim unless he/she believes in these and other prophets that the world has seen to be truthful representatives of God on earth. Moses is mentioned over one hundred times in the Holy Quran, and Jesus is mentioned 25 times. In fact, there a chapter in the Quran named after Mary, mother of Jesus! See more
