We all know someone who is suffering from cancer. They have caregivers and experts from many different disciplines. But who is caring for their spiritual needs?... Who is taking the time to really listen to them without judging? Who encourages them? Who is giving them hope when fear and anxiety rule the day? Who listens to their deepest concerns? Who is there to listen when friends no longer visit? When family no longer know what to say? First Baptist Church is proud to introduce a Cancer Treatment Centers of America program called Our Journey of Hope. The program offers support and ministry to men, women and families fighting cancer. If you, a loved one, or someone you know would benefit from a ministry of hope and encouragement as you or they face the specter of cancer, please email or text Pastor Dennis Christiansen ([email protected]; 607-857-8940); or email or call First Baptist Church ([email protected]; 387-7705). We will give you more detailed information about this ministry. Cancer impacts the patient and the family. This program is designed to meet the special, spiritual needs of those experiencing cancer and to let them know that God is with them. The training provides leaders with an in-depth look at the cancer experience and helps them develop the means to build a cancer care ministry of listening, encouragement, and hope. OJOH caregivers are trained to be a helpful presence on the cancer journey; to help the cancer patient make their journey a Journey of Hope. Our Journey of Hope Cancer Care Ministry is available to anyone in the community.
