I wanted to share a few UGLY facts. *Ugly Duck was named by Cris because I was attempting to pour a swan in a latte. She said it looked like an Ugly Duck. *Our first service was a pop up at Scratch Bakeshop (@scratchbakeshoproc ) in June 14th, 2015. ... *89 Charlotte St. opened May 17th, 2016. Formerly 1975 Gallery (@1975ish ), The Little Bakery, and an old photo developer studio. *The diamond logo was made by Adam Maida (@adammmmaida ). The inspiration came from Powell Peralta. *Construction has been happening all around us since we opened. No we didn’t realize that it would be like this. Yes we wish a park was in front of the shop too. That’s all for this round. Hope y’all have a great day.

Sustainability is something we talk about often. This year it takes on so much more meaning. Typically it refers to diverting as much waste from landfills, which we do our best at by composting and using compostable cups/lids, and togo wares. Recently it often refers to self care, burnout, and exhaustion. As we navigate this holiday season please use patience, empathy, and understanding with all the folks you interact with. These are unprecedented times and all the folks working customer service jobs could really use good energy. Much Love Y’all.

As you know the temperatures have been dropping and the days are getting shorter. Many hospitality businesses have been planning and doing our best to figure out what’s next for the colder months. We know the allure of box stores and chains. Convenience is easy and at times financially it’s what makes sense. We just want to say we can’t thank you all enough for taking that extra step, making that change in routine, and adapting to our service models. Without your continued support we couldn’t do this. We can’t thank you enough.
