United Way of Rockland County

On April 24th UWRC piloted the "Volunteer in the Moment " event at the Palisades Center offering the public spontaneous volunteer opportunities. More than 50 people stopped by to volunteer, making cards, bookmarks, drawings and tote bags to donate to local nonprofits. Families, friends, and couples volunteered together, some for 10 minutes and some for an hour, demonstrating that volunteering can be fun, creative and in the moment.

Thank you to the Tappan Zee High School Youth United Way Club for being part of the 2021 Spring Days of Caring and creating drawings and cards for isolated, home bound senior citizens. Thank you for LIVING UNITED!

Thanks to Journey Church of the Hudson Valley for participating in the 2021 Spring Days of Caring by donating supplies and assembling 300 Children's Activity Kits for our local pediatric emergency rooms! Thank you for LIVING UNITED!

Our community and country has been through a lot in 2020. And we still face significant uncertainty in the coming months and years ahead. The NYS Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) agency has extended the COVID Rent Relief Extension Program. The new application period will be open Friday, December 18th through Monday, February 1, 2021. The COVID Rent Relief Extension Program will provide eligible households with a one-time rental subsidy that will be sent directly to the household’s landlord. Applicants will not need to repay this assistance. The COVID Rent Relief Extension Program is not first come, first served. Applications will be accepted throughout the application period. 2020 was a Tough Year Celebrate its End with a Gift for a Better 2021 At the beginning of the year, none of us were prepared for what we would confront. And no one knew how many in our community would need our help. Faced with a once-in-a-generation challenge, UWRC stepped up and our staff, donors, volunteers and our entire community came together in an unprecedented way. We helped our neighbors who were most impacted by the global pandemic and economic downturn get the relie...f and support they needed. UWRC has brought $1.1 million dollars in goods and services into the community and has assisted more than 16,000 people. But there is so much more to do. Thousands in our community still struggle with unemployment, food insecurity, housing and health challenges. Let’s not put off until tomorrow the work that we can start today.
