Protect what you love but also protect what you don’t understand Many species of underwater animals use camouflage to escape or facilitate predation. There are several different types of aquatic camouflage, from the transparency we see in species of jellies to the countershading seen in marine mammals. Some animals reflect light or produce light to blend in, while others mimic other animals or their habitats. Some fish have distracting coloration like eyespots, but this little fish is just hoping to blend in (from the #EdgeGBR expedition). See more examples in our ROV archives!

#Repost @thetrashycollection with @get_repost So... um... can we all collectively choose to never use single-use plastic cotton bud swabs EVER again?? Because seriously, I find these on almost every beach I go to. You just have to look closely. An estimated 1.5 million plastic swabs (like these!) are produced every single day.. and thrown out seconds after one use. How did these ones end up on the beach? Scientists found they sometimes flush down toilets or shimmy out of of waste systems and ..DUN DUN DUN.. end up right in our waters.
