Thank you to NYC Council Members #CarlosMenchaca and Debi Rose for welcoming our teachers, Jon and Jinhee, to discuss the challenges of remote #adultedu & #ESOL classes, and the support and tech we need to close the digital divide in our adult immigrant students during the #Covid19
We would like to share a nice song about Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Although the video title says the song is for kids, it is actually good for everybody because it teaches history with many new or old names and vocabulary through its lyrics. Enjoy the video! No class this Monday, October 12. We are no longer calling tomorrow’s holiday Columbus Day. We will instead be celebrating the history and the heritage of the indigenous people who lived in the country before Columbus arrived. Classes will continue on Tuesday, 10/13/2020. #indigenouspeoplesday

As we take time today to celebrate the beginning of #LatinxHistoryMonth, we want to reflect on the achievements, history, and the diverse culture of the Latinx community, one of the largest and most diverse communities in NYC. Throughout the month we'll be sharing highlights from our community and staff.
We just wrapped up two days of teacher orientation, and there’s proof of it in the screenshot. We have four new teachers and the rest of them are returning teachers . Our class offerings this year include 12 daytime classes, 5 evening classes, 3 weekend classes plus 2 elective classes. In our orientation we talked about Zoom, Google Classroom, Ventures Presentation Plus, classroom management, lesson planning, and a whole host of other things! It was both fun and informative. #backtoschool #esolteachers #adultedu #englishteachers #esol
We'd like to give a huge thank you to our University Settlement community and staff who've worked tirelessly over the past few months, reaching out to participa...nts as part of our #2020Census outreach. Through our programming, food distributions, remote learning, and wellness checksit was truly a communal effort. Across University Settlement programs, we reached out to well over 10,000 people that we serve through phone, text, email, postcards, and letters.
