Stephen placed top 10 out of 10,000 runners at Philadelphia Marathon in 2019. Stephen has a very disciplined yet light hearted approach to running and is always up for an adventure in the high peaks or at an U...ltramarathon. The Utica Roadrunners are happy to announce that $1843 have been raised during our 9/11 Never Forget Run and Walk and will be donated to the Stephen Siller Tunnel To Towers Foundation Thanks to our co-sponsors, The Utica Professional Firefighters Association Local 32 Utica Fire Department and The John E. Creedon Police Benevolent Association City of Utica, NY Police Department, we were able to donate 100% of all money raised by entry fees and donations. The Sneaker Store on...ce again stepped up and provided gift cards that were given to the first male and female runners at the live event held on November 8, and to other random participants for both the live and virtual events. The 9/11 Never Forget Run and Walk was created to help offset the money the Tunnel to Towers Foundation would normally have raised, but due to the pandemic, have been unable to hold their events this year, including their biggest event, the NYC 5K normally held in September. Twas the night before Sizzle, when all through the house not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The sneakers were laid by the front door with care,... in hopes that Santa Sizzle soon would be there. The runners were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of PR’s danced in their heads. And Mama in her singlet, and I in my headlamp, had just signed up for a long winter's challenge. When out on the road there arose such a clatter, I sprang in my shoes to see what was the matter. Away to the front door I flew like a flash, Zipped up the jacket, and threw on the hat. The light from my vest on the new-fallen snow with all of my UR gear on to show, when, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but Santa Sizzle with a six-pack of Saranac Beer. With an ugly Christmas Sweater, so itchy and thick, I knew in a moment I must be real quick. More rapid than eagles, I PR’d my mile, Then I ran my longest distance with a smile. "Now Karen! Now Erin! Now, Dodi and Christine! On, Ashley! On, Tyler! On, Sandra and Ryan! To The Sneaker Store !! To USA Racing !! Now dash away! Dash away! The 36th Annual Run 2 End Hunger looks a little different this year but we have made it easy for you to participate and feel good about giving back during the season of Thankfulness. We are offering 3 days (11/25 - 11/27) that you may participate: Wed 1-4pm Thurs 8-11am... Fri 8-11am Participants may also choose to run virtually. 100% of the proceeds will be donated back to our community. Monies Collected will go to the Utica Center for Development INC. As a club we have preservered, engaged our running community as best we could within social distancing guidelines and even grown our membership despite the lack of all our "normal" in-person events. UR Members: Tomorrow at 3:43 pm we will open registration for a LIVE EVENT! We must cap registration at 50 people and we are sure that the event will sell out... quickly. The event is the 9/11 Never Forget Run / Walk, with all proceeds raised to be donated to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation. This will be both a live event capped at the first 50 registrants, and a virtual event. Events will not be timed and participants can either run or walk the 3.43 mile course. The live event will be held on Sunday November 8 at 10 am, starting at Proctor Park off of Rutger Street, out to the 9/11 Memorial at Tilden Ave, and back to Proctor Park. The virtual portion of the run can be completed the week leading up to the live event. Registration is $20 per person and all who participate will receive a finisher medal. Since the NYC and many other 5K events have been cancelled due to the pandemic, the Utica Roadrunners would like to help offset the loss of revenue by holding our 9/11 Never Forget Run / Walk, so that the Tunnel to Towers foundation can continue their work of supporting our nations firefighters, police officers, soldiers and veterans. All proceeds raised will be donated directly to the foundation. Breast Cancer Awareness Month starts today! 2020 has been a powerful reminder that we are all in this together, and our choices and actions have the power to protect the most vulnerable among us in a big way. The same holds true when it comes to breast cancer. With your support, we can show every woman that her life is important. By working together, we can inspire hope and become a force for good to get her access to the care she needs.... Jim will be sporting something PINK everyday this month to raise awareness.
