Happy first FULL day of Autumn! Stop and smell the apple trees... Our region and The Fingerlakes are home to countless apple orchards and farms. A region precisely adequate for growing tree fruits due to well draining soil left behind by glaciers. . We found ourselves at Apple Barrel Orchards, Penn Yan this past weekend. What a perfect way to enjoy some time with family and friends, view the beautiful countryside and support those around us in ...the Fingerlakes. Health is wealth... fresh air, sunshine and handpicked fruit! The apples were plentiful, the prices were fair and the crowds were minimal. Unlike some other PYO orchards this was quiet, apple focused and simple. Not a lot of unnecessary filler. Of ourse we made a day of the Orchard trip with some market coffee, lunch, donuts and a brewery stop.
