People are saying and posting that I dont require my employees to wear a mask. Let me make this clear. I have required them to wear a mask since the Executive Order went into effect. Ask them. I actually let someone go because they wouldn't wear a mask. PLEASE KNOW THE FACTS.

Thank you all for your support. It really means a lot. Did not post or close to start any arguments. These last 4 months have been very stressful and exhausting for my staff and myself. This is all new for all of us. I pride myself to read and call and get the correct information. And follow it. I have asked people to wear masks if they can medically tolerate it and cant keep 6 feet away. During these last 4 months people have called the state to report that my employees or c...ustomers are not wearing masks. As I have posted in the past I allow my staff to take breaks from the mask if they are over 6 feet away from customers. Some customers (and I know it's a small percentage) feel the need to call the state when they walk in and see someone without a mask even if they are not near anyone. Now there is a new regulation (I think but havent gotten any information on it) I have called the NYSDOH who made this regulation and havent heard back from them. Everyone can interpret it anyway they want. As a small business owner, it is very difficult to police and refuse business to loyal customers for whatever reason they dont wear a mask. I feel it puts my staff and myself at risk. I have allowed people without masks as long as they can keep 6 feet away. And I believe in my store you are able to do that. With that being said, I just felt the need to close to take a break. I am still working on getting the correct information to move forward. I appreciate your continued support. See more

First, we want to let everyone know that we understand everyone’s concerns during this crazy, unprecedented time. Every employee at Valley Market wakes up and comes into work excited, invigorated and determined to continue to assist the community with some of life’s most basic needs. We are following every and all town, county, state, DHS and CDC guidelines. Increased disinfecting, wiping down of surfaces and carts, additional cleaning etc. ... Every employee at Valley Market is also required to wear a mask. However, if that employee is not within 6 feet of another person, they have the right to take the mask off and get a breath of fresh air. Wearing a mask for endless hours is not easy and people deserve to get some relief. Wearing a mask is also not mandatory, it is a recommendation if they can medically tolerate and can't keep social distance. Which is why, when it comes to customers, we cannot make someone put one on, we can ask, but we cannot make them, that is not legal. We can ask them to social distance and to be cognizant of others, but again, we cannot make someone wear a mask. On top of that, we will not kick a customer out of the store for not wearing a mask. Everyone has the right to shop, eat, feed their families, stay healthy etc and we won’t be the ones to shut anyone out. We are doing everything we can to keep everyone that comes into Valley Market safe. We love each and every one of you and we're glad that we can be here for you, not only now during this pandemic, but in the future.
