More than 177 million people have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in the United States, and CDC continues to monitor the safety of the COVID-19 vaccines. The CDC and its partners are monitoring the recent reports of myocarditis after the COVID-19 vaccination. This is mainly occurring in males 16-30 years of age, about 4 days after the second dose. The majority of cases are self-limited and the patient usually returns to normal activities quickly. The CDC still recommends everyone eligible to get a COVID vaccine. The benefits of the vaccine still greatly outweigh the risk of the COVID disease, especially with the Delta variant becoming the predominant strain. If you have questions, call your trusted pediatrician.
