The Sicilian cart or carretto siciliano in Italian or carrettu sicilianu in Sicilian is an ornate, colorful style of horse or donkey-drawn cart native to the island of Sicily in Italy. The carts were introduced to the island by the ancient Greeks. Carts reached the height of their popularity in the 1920s, when many thousand were on the island. Miniature carts, or Carrettini Siciliani, are often sold in Sicily (or in Italian shops and restaurants in other countries) as souveni...rs. The Museo del Carretto Siciliano, in the province of Palermo, is a museum dedicated to the carts. Giovanni Gelosi, a member of the Vespa Club of Palermo recently posted these pictures of his Vespa in tribute to the classical iconic design merging two of the greatest Italian icons; the Sicilian cart and the classical Italian scooter, the Vespa. ATRX is Just 23 Days Away! JULY 12-14, 2019 The 10th Annual A*Town Rumble - Vespa Scooter Rally - will be three days of fun for all two and three wheel cycling enthusiasts and the general public. The Main Ride on Saturday will pass thru New York, Vermont and Massachusetts. Western New England boasts an eclectic mix of old world style and Tech Valley culture.... The A*Town Rumble is the largest annual scooter and motorbike rally in Upstate New York and typically attracts riding enthusiasts from all over New York, New England and the Mid-Atlantic. The A*Town Rumble is a JDRF fundraiser with proceeds going to fund a cure for Type One Diabetes. ATR volunteers are dedicated to riding motor bikes, and the A*Town Rumblers are a society for people who share the passion of vintage and modern mopeds, scooters and motorcycles. Over 80% of the attendees ride 150CC and up Scooters and motorcycles. However, we also have attendees that ride mopeds and 50cc scooters. The A*Town Rumble supports all riders by sponsoring a 30 Mph urban ride in addition to the epic Three State ride for 150cc and up machines. The A*Town Rumble welcomes all motor bike enthusiasts, regardless of what they ride. The last day to order tickets that include the event tee is Friday, June 21st.
