VAP lost a dear friend, Herzl Eisenstadt; an incredible veteran who continuously gave back to others, he represented veterans in upgrade applications and was a respected statesman at VAP. His friend Bill Beecher generously donated to VAP in his honor and the support will go toward assisting veterans in their review boards cases. Please take a look and add to the fund if you can: https://vap.urbanjustice.org/herzl

The Veteran Advocacy Project stands with trans servicemembers. The Supreme Court’s ruling this week is extremely disappointing and is a step backwards for our country. In addition to denying Americans equal rights and respect, the decision ignores the fact that the chiefs of every branch of service have stated on the record that trans servicemembers pose no issues for unit cohesion and do not diminish or hinder the armed forces in any way. Indeed, many of those individuals ...bring highly valued skills to their units. Now, instead, the president’s policy blocks talented, able Americans from enlisting at a time when less than 1 percent of the country is volunteering to sacrifice and serve. VAP is confident this procedural ruling will not lead to a permanent ban. Though it may take time, justice will prevail. We will continue to advocate for all veterans, fighting for equal rights both at the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Please support our work assisting veterans and their families by preventing evictions, getting vets access to health care, appealing VA denials and overpayments, upgrading discharges, & more! Every penny goes toward representing vets! https://vap.urbanjustice.org/civicrm/contribute/transact
