Junie is a sweet girl who was initially evaluated by our emergency and critical care department for pain of unknown origin. As a team effort Dr. Sylvane and Dr. Santare highly suspected she had back pain. An MRI was performed that showed a ruptured intervertebral disc which was causing severe compression of her spinal cord. This puts her at risk for worsening of signs leading to paralysis. Therefore, she was taken to surgery immediately following the MRI. A procedure called a hemilaminectomy was performed to remove the herniated disc material and alleviate the compression of the spinal cord. Since surgery, Junie has recovered is pain free and walking well. Dr. Santare and her team are thrilled to see such progress.

A big thank you to our team who worked throughout the big Northeast storm. Not only helping patients, but shoveling to ensure our clients were able to access the building safely. They certainly put their winter survival kits to use these past few days. No matter the weather our hospital does not shut down. We are open 24/7/365 for patients who need our care. We implement several mitigation strategies in order to keep our employees safe as possible and are continually impressed by our associates resilience, professionalism and dedication for putting people and pets health first. #essentialworkers
