The EHTRC extends our deepest sympathies and condolences to Tepe, Rettaliata, and Bifulco families. Chairwoman Tepe has left behind legacy of public service and dedication as an example for all. Wilwerth by renaming the Post O...ffice in his home town of Mastic, New York, in his honor. Specialist Wilwerth participated in the Junior ROTC program while at William Floyd High School, where I also once graduated, and enlisted in the Army Reserves his junior year at just 17 years old. Deployed to Iraq in December 2005 during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Specialist Wilwerth and two other servicemembers fell in the line of duty three months later on February 22, 2006, when an explosive device detonated near his Bradley Fighting Vehicle while on morning patrol near Balad, Iraq. Kennedy, Candidate for Suffolk County Executive, says that it appears that current County Executive Steve Bellone cut a deal with Democrats in the New York State Senate that will allow Suffolk County to continue to impose exorbitant fees on Suffolk’s taxpayers. Democrats in Albany added language in the proposed 2019-2020 state budget that allows the Suffolk County Clerk to collect additional verification fees on any tax map number under Part SS of the Public Protection and General Government budget bill (S1505-C; A2005-C). Governor Andrew Cuomo and state lawmakers are looking to pass the budget by April 1, the budget deadline. If this budget passes and this language is included, Suffolk taxpayers could face an onslaught of new additional fees in the near future, Mr. Kennedy said. Yesterday was the first day of the Senate’s legislative session. I am enthusiastic about the coming year as I continue to serve in leadership as the Chair fo...r our Conference.
