It's that time of year!
Unfortunately, due to today's weather, Santa has had to postpone his visit to the Village until Thursday, December 3rd at 6:30pm. Hope to see you all there!
Our Annual Tree Lighting Celebration will be a little different this year, but we will still welcome the holiday season into the village! Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting the Village of Bergen on Monday, November 30th beginning at 6:30pm. They will leave the fire hall escorted through the village by decorated fire trucks and will distribute Christmas treat bags to the children waving along the route. The trees in Ward Park will be lit as the Claus' pass by, the decorations at Hickory Park will be lit as well. Please keep everyone safe by distancing yourselves along the route, wearing a mask, staying off the roads, and not congregating in large groups.
A couple notes about next week: Garbage pickup is still on Tuesday morning so please put your toter and recycle bin out Monday night. The office is closed on Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.... We hope you all have a happy and healthy Thanksgiving.
Our last brush and leaf pickup of the season will be Monday, November 30th, weather permitting.
Dear Customers and Residents of Genesee County: As you know, the GLOW, Western New York and Finger Lakes regions are experiencing a significant spike in COVID-19 infection rates. If this trend continues, we could be headed for another lockdown that would impose significant burdens on small business. The pandemic has already devastated many businesses in our community and if we don’t do everything we can to combat the rising number of infections, the public health and economic... situation in Genesee County will worsen. Governor Cuomo just announced that starting Friday, November 13th New York State bars and restaurants must close at 10 pm due to the alarming increase in cases. We need everyone’s help in ensuring that we are not faced with even further restrictions or a second lockdown. Businesses in our community that were fortunate enough to survive the first lockdown may not be able to survive these new restrictions. Genesee County business owners and their employees are our friends, our family, and our neighbors and we owe it to our community to do all we can in preventing the spread of COVID19. There are several ways we can do this and in fact we have already done it, but we all know that COVID fatigue has settled in. We have to reverse this trend and become even more vigilant like we were when the pandemic first hit. First, whenever you are out in public, wear a mask. As we know from public health experts, wearing a face mask helps prevent the spread of the virus. Second, always remember to sanitize, sanitize, sanitize! Wash your hands regularly and when you cannot wash your hands, use a hand sanitizer. All of our businesses have hand sanitizer when you enter their premises. Finally, remember the importance of social distancing. Limit close face-to-face contact and do your best to maintain at least six feet from other people. Local businesses are the backbone of our economy and we need to come together again and raise our vigilance to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Remembering to take these precautions is all the more important as we approach the holidays where gatherings of family and friends adds another challenge in our efforts to be vigilant to limit the infection rate. We appreciate your understanding and more than ever wish you a happy, healthy, and safe holiday season. And remember, support your local businesses!
Just a quick reminder that the Village office will be closed on Wednesday, November 11th in honor of Veteran's Day. Thank you for your service! Also, there is no delay of garbage pickup. It will still be on Tuesday.
We are currently experiencing an issue with our online payment portal. We have someone working to fix it but we're not sure how long it will be down. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Check out Hickory Park in the evening! Additional lighting has been installed so our walking paths will be better lit after dark to keep everyone safe.
A message from Mayor Barclay: Several incidences occurred this week in the village involving the defacing of private and public property. I greatly appreciate the help provided by the calls to the village office; we need to work together to protect our community. The village has removed messages on the sidewalk, officers have visited properties where damage occurred. I have had several conversations with the Genesee County Chief Deputy; we have requested extra patrols to the village, and they are taking place. Please call the village office with any questions or concerns you may have (494-1513).
