Village of Falconer 19.11.2020

Santa is coming to Falconer December 5th! The Falconer Rotary and the Village of Falconer have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s traditional San...ta Claus parade. Instead, Santa Clause will be escorted by the Falconer Fire Department around the village on Saturday, December 5th, starting at 10 am. Santa’s route through the village will be posted on the Village of Falconer Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/FalconerNY/. Santa’s progress through the village will be posted to this Facebook live throughout the morning so families can prepare for Santa’s arrival. Children and their families will be able to see Santa as he passes through their neighborhoods. Santa will be flying into SKF where he will begin his tour through the village on the old Mac Fire Engine then wind his way around the village, ending at the fire hall. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, Santa will not be able to stay and greet children at the Santa House this year. Drive-in Rabies Immunization Clinic Start: Nov 21, 2020 - 9:00am End: Nov 21, 2020 - 12:00pm The Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS...) Division of Public Health has announced a free rabies vaccination clinic to be held on Saturday, November 21, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Village of Falconer Highway Building at 1 Coleson Drive in Falconer. The clinic will be a drive-in clinic and animals must be pre-registered to receive vaccinations. Vaccinations will be provided free of charge to all dogs, cats, and domesticated ferrets three months of age and older. The Chautauqua County Humane Society and the Chautauqua County Division of Public Health will co-sponsor the event. Dr. Mark McConnon will be the attending veterinarian. You must pre-register online at health.ny.gov/gotoclinic or https://apps.health.ny.gov/doh2/applinks/cdmspr/2/counties. On the website, type the clinic location as Falconer and mark the box for Rabies Vaccination Clinic for Pets. You will select an appointment time and pre-register using the pet owner’s name, address, and contact information. You will also need pet information such as name, age, color, etc. There are a limited number of spots available at the clinic, so pet owners should pre-register online as soon as possible. Walk-ins will not be accepted. At the clinic, vehicles will enter from South Work St. onto Coleson Dr. near the front of Tops Markets. Pet owners will stay in their vehicles with their pets. People must wear facemasks. Pet owners must bring previous rabies vaccination records for each animal receiving a shot to ensure proper and effective vaccination; clinic staff will confirm previous rabies vaccination records. All dogs must be on a leash (small dogs may be in a carrier). All cats must be in a carrier. Animal handlers will transport animals from the vehicle to the veterinarian for vaccination. New York State Public Health Law requires each dog, cat, and domesticated ferret over the age of four months be vaccinated against rabies and county residents are encouraged to be responsible pet owners by having their pets vaccinated. Rabies is a very serious disease of warm-blooded animals caused by a virus. Raccoons, bats, skunks, and foxes are common disease carriers. The virus is transmitted to humans and animals through saliva and it can enter the body from a bite, scratch, scrape or open cut. The rabies virus infects the central nervous system and can cause brain swelling and ultimately death within days of the onset of symptoms. During the vaccine clinic CCHS Pet Food Pantry will be conducting a pet food drive to help re-stock supplies. Monetary donations, cat / dog food or cat litter will be graciously accepted. You don’t have to be participating at the clinic to donate. For more information about the clinic and rabies in general, visit www.chqgov.com/environmental-health/rabies-prevention or contact the Division of Public Health at (716) 753-4481.
