Hello, and good afternoon! We hope this finds you well! As of today, Thursday, June 4, 2020, the bull still has not been apprehended. At this time, a decision was made to re-open the Bartholomew Park walking path only. Please use caution within or about Bartholomew Park and report any sightings or possible sightings of the bull to Vernon police by either calling 911 or the non-emergency line at (315) 829-2550. Please keep in mind, and due to New York state/Oneida County ...retsrictions, all playgrounds, ball fields, pavilions and bleachers are still closed due to COVID-19. We ask that you please respect these restrictions until they're lifted by state government. Please enjoy the beautiful weather and we look forward to seeing you soon!
*** UPDATE ON BULL *** As of Wednesday, May 27, 2020, the bull has yet to be captured. At this time, it has been a number of days since the bull has been seen, so his exact location is unknown. Due to the risk of serious injury should the bull still be in the immediate area, the Bartholomew Park walking path and waterfalls are still closed until further notice.... Vernon police officers have been in contact with the owner of the bull, along with staff from Vernon Downs, and we are still actively pursuing leads that may reveal the bull's location. We understand this is a significant inconvenience to citizens who utilize the walking paths, however, an animal of the stature should be considered dangerous if encountered. We greatly appreciate your cooperation, and we will open the walking path as soon as it's reasonably safe to do so. Thank you!
*** UPDATE ON BULL *** As of Friday, May 22, 2020 at noon, the bull is still at large and has yet to be captured. As stated before, the bull was last observed in the wooded area between Bartholomew Park and Vernon Downs on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at approximately 2:20 PM. The owner of the bull, along with local livestock staff and Vernon police are still actively attempting to locate the bull and containing him in the safest manor possible.... That being said, it is still unsafe for pedestrian traffic in and about Bartholomew Park; walking trails/paths and waterfalls are still closed. Until further notice, please stay away from this area as it is not safe. This bull should be considered potentially aggressive and dangerous. If you believe you have a visual on the bull, please don't hesitate to call Vernon police at (315) 829-2550. Thank you, and enjoy the beautiful weather! Happy Memorial Day weekend!
Please be advised, until further notice, Bartholomew Park is currently closed to all pedestrian traffic, which includes the walking trail and water falls, due to a loose and aggressive bull. Please stay away as the bull was last seen in the wooded area between Bartholomew Park and Vernon Downs. Thank you.
Good evening and we hope this finds you well. Please be advised, as of Thursday, March 26, 2020 at 8:00 P.M., the following will be closed in an attempt to curb the spread of SARS-CoV-2 (Novel Coronavirus): 1. All ball fields, tennis/basketball courts, playgrounds, pavilions, picnic tables, bleachers and dugouts within Bartholomew Park, located on Violet's Way in the village of Vernon, New York. 2. At this time, the walking path located within Bartholomew Park will remain o...pen unless groups of two or more persons are observed congregating, forcing the entire park to be closed to any and all foot traffic. 3. This was previously mandated by the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill (VVS) school district when schools were originally closed. On Friday, April 26th, 2019 a Village of Vernon resident received a phone call from two female callers who stated that they were calling from Social Security Administration and the local Police Department. The two callers told her that her Social Security number was linked to numerous multimillion dollar crimes in Mexico and that she would get arrested unless she sent money to them to clear the problem with legal authorities and clear her Social Security number. The scammer...s were able to provide the victim with the last 4 numbers of her Social Security number which made the victim believe that her Social Security number was mistakenly involved in crimes and she wanted it cleared. The scammers stated to the victim that, if she went to the police, she should bring at least $20,000.00 with her in hopes that the bail would not be higher than that. The victim purchased a $500.00 Google Play card and provided the scammers with the barcode key information off of the card which made the money immediately available to the scammers. Victim went to another local store to purchase a second card, when the store employees instructed her that they could not sell her one in the amount she requested due to Scam concerns. It was at this moment that the victim realized that she possibly got scammed. She contacted Vernon Police Department. A report was made. Google Play Customer Service as well as the place of purchase were contacted in order to in-activate the card but it was not possible. The FBI was notified. Please beware of and refrain from doing any financial transactions or releasing any personal identifiable information to anyone over the phone. If you believe that someone attempted to scam you or you were scammed, report the incident to the FBI at: WWW.iC3.gov
