TO: Residents FROM: Department of Public Works DATE: September 22, 2020 RE: Milling and Paving Street Our paving contractor is planning to start milling on Monday, September 28, 2020 on the following street: North Highland Avenue from West State Street to Stevens Street Paving will begin on Monday, October 5, 2020 weather permitting. After milling and before paving, manholes and water boxes will be elevated, so please drive carefully. During paving and milling, access to these streets will be limited and parking on the street will not be allowed so please plan ahead with parking arrangements to avoid any conflicts. NOTICE The downtown Gateway Project will enter into the next phases during the weeks of August 24 and August 31, 2020. PHASE ONE: The week of August 24, 2020 portions of North Main Street will be closed to thru traffic to allow the new crosswalks to be constructed at the following two locations: At the mid-block crosswalk between Madison Street and Fassett Street (motorists may still access the block from Madison Street going south and from Fassett Street going north with U-turns allowed so motorists can exit from the same point of entry) At the south side crosswalk of the North Main Street and Fassett Street intersection (motorists may enter the block from Gabby Hayes Lane and East State Street) PHASE TWO: The week of August 31, 2020 portions of North Main Street will be closed to thru traffic to allow the new crosswalks to be constructed at the following two locations: At the south side crosswalk of the North Main Street and Fassett Street intersection (motorists may still access the block from Madison Street only going south with U-turns allowed so motorists can exit from the same point of entry there will be no entry from Fassett Street) At the south side crosswalk of the Gabby Hayes Lane and North Main Street intersection (motorists may still access the block from Fassett Street going south and from East State Street going north with U-turns allowed so motorists can exit from the same point of entry) Parking will be maintained as much as space allows helping to alleviate disruption to business as much as possible during both phases.
