Traffic Alert Water St. and County Rd 32 is closed in till further notice.

***Update: County Road 2 has reopened.*** County Road 2 between Ott Road and Echo Lake Road is closed until further notice for power lines down. Please avoid the area.

The village power outage is due to a NYSEG issue. We are not sure when NYSEG will get power restored. NYSEG is working on the issue. We will update as soon as we know more info.

Spring Cleanup has concluded for this year. Thank you for your cooperation in bagging, bundling sticks and only putting out the appropriate materials. Enjoy the nice weather we are expecting this weekend. Village of Greene Spring Clean Up- ENDED The Village of Greene crew will pickup yard waste twice a week in the village, normally Mondays and Friday. This will run through June 4th. ... Yard waste is leaves, weeds, grass clippings, dead flowers (not in pots). Twigs and branches must be tied in bundles. Maximum size for branches is 4 inches in diameter/4 feet in length. Yard waste must be in clear plastic bags. Sticks/branches in tied bundles. No garbage can be mixed with yard waste. They should be placed at the curbside, not in the road or ditch. If you have trees/bushes/shrubs that you remove, you will need to dispose of them. The Brisben dump will accept them.

**UPDATE** The water main leak has been detected. It will affect N. Canal St ONLY. From 32 N. Canal St. to 53 N. Canal St. We will update when repair is completed.... Thank you for your patience. See more

**URGENT NOTICE** The North end of the village has a water main leak that is needed to be repaired. It will affect all streets NORTH OF ELM ST, including Elm St. Water department is out starting the repair as of immediately and will continue until it is repaired. Unfortunately, at this time, they do not have an estimate on timing of the repair. ... Please assist us in notifying your neighbors. We will keep you posted as to the progress of the repair. Attn. Village of Greene Residents........The Village of Greene is accepting undecorated Christmas trees for recycling. Trees can be brought to the north gate of the waste water treatment plant on Water St., the village is not able to provide curb pickup of trees. The north gate is the first gate coming from Genesee St/Route 206. Inside the gate you will see an area marked to place them in. Please make sure there are NO decorations or tinsel on them. Trees can be dropped in d...esignated areas only when the gate is open and during the hours of 8:00 am - 3:00 pm on regular business days of Monday-Friday. We will have this drop off spot available from today, 12/29 through January 15th. This is only for Christmas trees, if decorated trees or other materials are deposited, the gates will be closed and trees will not be accepted. Christmas trees can also be taken to the Chenango County landfill in Brisben. See more

*Update as of 10:23 am- water will be turned back on by 10:30 am. Water will be discolored and may be air in the lines, run water until it runs clear. This should only take a short time. Thank you for your patience. *Update...... water will be off starting at 9:30. Hoping for a quick fix but as with these situations it often is hard to give exact amount of time. Looking for it to be no more than 2 hours. We will keep updating. This is effecting parts of Green St and North, i...ncluding Crestmont, Turner and Juliand/Cty Rd 32. There is a potential water main break at Crestmont and East Juliand. Crews will be evaluating the situation and further updates will be made. There will be an interruption in water service in the area if there is a break. More information/updates will be made available Monday morning.

THE VILLAGE OF GREENE OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED FOR WALK IN PAYMENTS. AS A PRECAUTION WE ARE CLOSING THE OFFICE FOR WALK IN PAYMENTS, DUE TO THE POSSIBLE INCREASE IN COVID CASES AFTER THE HOLIDAYS. WE WILL BE WORKING IN THE OFFICE OUR REGULAR hours of 7:00 a.m. 3:30 p.m. If you have any questions please call our office,656-4500. If you are in need of notary services an appointment can be made. At this time, we do not have a notary on site, but one that we can schedule appointments for. Envelopes are available outside the front door and should be placed in the outside drop box. This drop box comes directly into our office.

The Village of Greene is working as quickly as possible to clear the snow from roads and parking lots. Due to the amount of snow we received, in many places there is no place to put the snow. Crews are having to use dump trucks to move the snow out of these areas, which is taking extra time. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. Please also be careful at intersections where snow is higher than normal.

We are pleased to announce that we will be reopening the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, December 1st. We will have winter coats out and also start putting out Christmas decorations .
