Rodenticide is VERY toxic to pets, there are a few different types of rodenticide and unfortunately the use of rodenticide is quite common. This makes accidental ingestion somewhat common. If you suspect your pet might may have gotten into any type of amount of rodenticiude, call a veterinarian immediately. #rodenticidepoisoning #petpoisonprevention #veterinarymedicine #vvcofh

Starting Sunday, November 15th the Village Veterinary Clinic of Hamburg will return to full curbside. Due to the increase in COVID cases in WNY, we need to be able to protect not only the staff here at the hospital but our clients as well. First and foremost want to thank all of our clients during these past 9 months. You have been understanding and patient during all the changes that have occurred. As we once again alter our protocols during this next phase, we thank yo...u for your consideration. Starting November 15th: When you arrive for your appointment you will call or text to check-in for your appointment (716-646-4023). We recommend texting the hospital for check-ins/arrival (appointments, surgery, physical therapy, medication or food pick-ups), med refill requests, discharge of patients Texting should NOT be used for emergency questions. The texting feature is not monitored from 11pm-8am Monday-Saturday and 6pm-8am on Sundays. All appointments will be done curbside, meaning only staff is allowed in the hospital. A member of the medical team will bring your pet inside for the exam and the doctor will call you when they are done. Please, be sure to bring your cell phone with you. - Make sure it is fully charged - Please, be sure to monitor your cell phone during the time of your appointment so we can contact you. Please, do not leave until your appointment has been completed. If you do need to leave or you choose to leave you must notify the staff. If you leave the parking lot, you will be charged a day hospitalization charge. It is recommended for payments to be made over the phone via credit card, debit card, or care credit card. All dogs must be on a leash All cats must be in a carrier All humans must be wearing a mask, properly (covering both mouth and nose) One owner will be allowed in the building for end-of-life care. This year has been tough on everyone, we understand this. We do ask that you treat our staff with respect and kindness. Please refrain from using profanity towards any staff member. **CURBSIDE DOES INCREASE APPOINTMENT TIMES** We apologize ahead of time for the long wait times. If you do not think you are able to wait for a longer time during your appointment and wish to change your appointment to December, please call to reschedule now. We are following the COVID numbers, guidelines from the state and Erie County, and will update you when we will once again allow clients back into the building. We are striving to give your pet the best care possible while providing great customer service. Thank you! Village Veterinary Clinic of Hamburg

Polly came in for some blood work today. Her bloodwork is being monitored because she recently ingested gum with Xylitol in it. Xylitol is severely toxic to dogs.
