An animation that demonstrates the mechanism of action of Curaxin molecules the candidate anti-cancer treatments. It was used at conferences, presentations and became a part of a larger film about RPCI accomplishments in cancer research. The animation is intended to show the mechanism of action at two different levels altering DNA molecule structure and compactization. We created a visualization of the Hofstadter's butterfly measured by Google’s artificial intelligence (AI) quantum team. The data behind the image was obtained with the superconducting quantum chip. The visualization was used as a cover proposal for publication in Science Magazine. In 1976, an American researcher Douglas Hofstadter published an article , which, based on theoretical considerations, in which he graphically visualized the potential energy distribution of a syste...m of electrons placed in a two-dimensional atomic lattice, which is under the simultaneously effect of affected by a magnetic field and a periodic electric field. The mathematical description of the phenomenon (namely, the structure of the almost Mathieu operator spectrum with lambda equal to one) was proposed by the Soviet physicist Mark Azbel, a student of Lev Landau, back in 1964. Quantum technology helped to register Hofstadter's butterfly in the experiment. The animation presents the novel tumor-localizing peptide technology for drug delivery. In healthy human tissue with neutral pH, the drug-containing peptide is loosely associated with the cell membrane, and the drug is not released. However, because of their metabolisms, tumor cells lower the pH level around them. In the presence of low pH, the peptide forms an alpha helix and translocates across the cell membrane, releasing the drug directly into the cell cytoplasm.
